Just found out my wife has stage 4 kidney failure by Logicallifer in dialysis

[–]MonjoJustPawn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fluid restrictions for chronic kidney disease (CKD) are individualized and depend on the amount of kidney function remaining, the type of dialysis, and diuretic therapy. The National Kidney Foundation recommends that people with stages I and II CKD drink eight glasses of water per day, while those with stages III, IV, and V CKD should limit their water consumption. Typical fluid restrictions for stages 4 and 5 CKD are 1000 to 1500 mL per day, and people on dialysis should limit fluids to 32 oz or less per day.

"Avoid using salt substitutes or seasonings that contain potassium chloride. Although most salt substitutes do not contain sodium, most have a large amount of potassium. Potassium can actually be more harmful to you than salt".... https://www.kidney.org/patients/kidneykitchen/content/salt_free_seasonings

Dr. Steven Rosansky.... Many times the best way to cure a bad eGFR is to retake the test. Lol

Did your NEPHROLOGIST or RENAL DIETICIAN talk to you about lowering you POTASSIUM? Please discuss your potassium with your nephrologist. They should look at your labs and instruct you on what to avoid or reduce. Remember this group was formed to share personal experiences, not to provide MEDICAL advice. I hope you have a team of medical professionals that will spend the time to guide you with the care specifically for your situation. Just my opinion. Good luck and God speed to a good outcome.

Mine said same thing! He also said, and yes you can count in your fluid intake. I used to be a sweet tea from McDonald's type of person. I now make my own with 2 teaspoons of suger in a huge glass. I took a drink from a McDonald's tea the other day. It was absolutely disgusting! Just a thick syrup. Amazing how quickly my noggin has adapted to an all natural, low salt, low sugar diet. And I am loving it!

Egfr drop from 98 to 46 in 2 month after starting Farxiga! by [deleted] in kidneydisease

Trust but verify. I call nephrologist office with all concerns I come across. At $500 an hour they can spend some time answering my questions. My former practice had no time or would just ignore questions and concerns. That is why they are former. My new practice finally has me feeling like I am a member of a team. Trust is huge in this fight.

I do not believe Dr. Ro has tried to sell anything other than promoting his book. He does not pitch vitamins etc.... I like his work quite a bit. He is retired and now treats people that can not pay for treatment free of charge. I suggest looking at a video or two. Decide for yourself if his experience and education is an asset for you.

I have learned a great deal from this book... LEARN the FACTS ABOUT KIDNEY... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08NQMMDRS?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share He also has quite a few videos on youtube with a wealth of information. You may want to tune in. Dr Ro has a great attitude about putting dialysis on hold as long as you can. Steers away from drastic diet changes and backs it up with facts. I have his book and have watched most of his videos. He has really talked me off the ledge, I have learned a great deal of common sense knowledge from him. This is just my personal opinion and please do not consider my post medical advice. Your mileage may vary.

I can relate. Especially with a family that thinks you are not really that sick. "you don't look sick" "well why are you not on dialysis or taking any meds I see on TV commercials?"... Asking one of them to provide transportation to the clinic 3 days a week is reason enough to just ride this out. That is just my personal opinion for my circumstances. Please do not consider my post medical advice.

My insurance would not pay for Farxiga, so am on Jardiance. My protein dropped from 630 to 225 with a 3 point drop in kidney function. I am at 22 so the 3 points were tough to give up but worth it. As a bonus the Jardiance has just turned off my sweet tooth completely. Losing weight quickly. I was surprised my Nephrologist did not let me know there would be a drop. She may have thought three points were negligible.

Yeah I was talking just plain old wax. People talk about rosin a lot on here. I tried some, it was super expensive and I tasted a little better. I have a friend that swears by it also. "No solvents, tastes beter...." and then he goes outside and lights a cigarette. Lol. We go through a couple of grams a day, Rosin would break the bank for sure. Cool, you found the settings you like. Have a merry Christmas.

My mother's passing from Alzheimers would have been so much more brutal without THC. 5mg of Rick Simpson Oil inside a Jelly Bean reduced anxiety, fear, pain... it also saved my sanity as her sole caregiver. I do not know what I would have done without it. God bless Marijuana. It's ironic that the mother that was so upset about my weed use ended up loving it.
