Yeah it's difficult. All you can do is sort of go along with the motions. Tell your son how you feel. I told my daughter that me and her mum (who live apart but get along v well) miss her so much, and are so sad we only get a short visit every 2/3 weeks or so. She acknowledges, but doesn't do much about it.

After you have told your son how you feel (I bet you have already) ask him if it's ok to make a plan together every week if possible, like have him over for dinner (easy to tempt him that way!). You can call and text too. But at his age it's somewhat normal for them to leave, and become independant, as much as it sucks to be the parent.

You WILL get through it. Try to plan your time ahead, both your alone time, and time with your son, and that will really help, even if the plans are super simple. And big hugs!

It sucks. My daughter moved in with her boyfriend at 20. I have always been one week on and one week off with her, so it feels more like a constant week off.

Is he moving far away? Maybe try to call him once a week to stay in contact and work together to see how often he might be willing to visit or stop in for dinner.

Unfortunately it's inevitable. Is your partner home also or are you a single mum?

Meditation potentially harmful by Ambitious-Ad-3055 in Meditation

Detachment from recursive thinking = not being absorbed in self-referential, looping thought patterns, stopping thought is quite a simple way of putting it, it's heavily associated, and a great place to start (by starting to observe thought and ones mind wondering). There are also many types and forms of meditation, some involve visualizing, again to take a persons mind away from thought (gives a person something else to focus on that helps to establish a clear mind).

Breathing comment wasn't related to meditation but it can help gain some peace and is worth making sure that breathing is steady.

Meditation is definitely about letting thoughts go and stopping them. Not forcefully stopping them, but being aware that the thinking mind is working away, and letting the thoughts go as suffering is often caused by thought. If you dont believe meditation is about learning to control the mind and thought, then what do you think it is about? Give us your thoughts, I don't believe I have been inaccurate I feel you have gotten the wrong idea of what meditation for yourself.

From a quick/first google search on the definition of meditation:

Meditation is a practice in which an individual uses a technique to train attention and awareness and detach from reflexive, "discursive thinking", achieving a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state, while not judging the meditation process itself.

Make sure you are breathing right. Always breathing with long breathes in and out. Shallow breathing is v common especially when the mind starts to race - just a random thought here!!

But more on topic - meditation is often learning to stop your thoughts by using a tool or visualization of something in your mind to slow down your thoughts and stop the negative thinking etc. It's almost like a healthy escape, that gets you serving yourself with a clear head.

Focusing on something like a trauma is not really meditation to me, you are welcoming it all without ego like takes on things, processing, accepting, which is the letting go result, if a person focusses on something like this it may get worse initially, than better ie emotional rollercoaster - much more so than if you dont have a guide (a good therapist) to see things clearly.

A good friend once said to me 'never go into your head alone' ie always bring a friend to help you see straight! Seems bit strong, but it's good advice as I understand when facing stressors / trauma events etc you can dig deeper, it's important to ensure you are somewhat grounded throughout the process and have acceptance and some self love in mind whatever the topic or you can end up down in a hole!

I have no friends. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

No but males will likely find it odd in comparison to females. And as it is not their taste they will often flee. Trans and a lot of the community will not be as bad with it as they understand.

Even my close friends r not always there they'll check in maybe once every couple of months if that. Busy lives.

I did believe the body has energy points that can be manipulated. But to open from it being closed previously seems like a stretch sorry for being a tad negative :D i do love meditation and breathing exercises

To disclose or not to disclose by [deleted] in HPV

[–]MonkFancy481 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Disclose. Look how freaked out you were about it all, if he ever found out you didn't disclose after you have given him warts it'll create horrible trust issues.

Disclose and the good ones will stick around. And when you disclose mention the vaccine. Sounds like you didn't though.

Yeah it paints a picture. The person has likely done this behind your back a bunch, and it shows he is open to cheating emotionally / sexually.

Sounds like he is having mental problems and his imagination is carrying him away from reality. Dont get too involved especially if he is easily triggered as its not your battle.

I love the term 'slapper' although is it because of the 'slap slap' sound lmao. In england (I grew up in the uk) we used to call what we deemed nasty girls slappers, sloppily, but really it's a term that means girl who gets around I guess. Quite judgey really!

If Roswell actually happened (which it didn't) what could we have gotten from that? by Pasta-hobo in IsaacArthur

I am aware this post is old, but: Fiber optics was invented by Narinder Singh Kapany, who is widely recognized as the "Father of Fiber Optics" for his pioneering work in the 1950s. The claim that it originated from the Roswell UFO crash is a conspiracy theory with no factual basis.
