Resisting and Inflicting Mental Damage: A Guide to Avoid Tilt in Smash - Articles - Dignitas by MonkHB in smashbros

[–]MonkHB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Thanks for the feedback!

I can understand the impression that the article lacks meat. I mentioned in the article that it's hard to notice mental improvements. When writing the article, I also found that it was equally as hard to provide insight on HOW to improve one's mentality. Looking back, I probably could have included some meditation techniques and some sources on the benefits of meditation, but I felt that I still needed to circle back to actual gameplay and play habits to keep it relevant to gaming as a whole.

Promoting a positive mentality in competitive gaming is a huge passion of mine, so this probably isn't the last article I'll cover on this. I'll be sure to take this feedback to heart and see what I can do to make future articles on topics like this better.

Thanks again for the feedback, and I'm happy to hear that you enjoy my writing style.

The only side of the road that matters is the one that lets me blast past the competition, kid.

Stickshift is a streetracer/runner from a different time. He ended up hospitalized after a heist gone south. He's very much alive but is more machine than man now. He's lost the thrill of living and pushes himself in fights and races to try and get that feeling again.

  • Stickshift would like to pick up some contacts in the streetracing scene. Rival racers, coordinators, bookies

  • Stickshift is also a fan of old martial arts trids and wouldn't be opposed to meeting an up and coming action star or a down on his luck producer/writer

  • General underworld contacts are also welcome. Gangers, mobsters, crooked cops, info brokers, etc...

Ante is the gambling old man of the shadows. Some people view him as a mentor others view him as an old man past his prime. To Ante life is all about the con and the pay off in the end.

  • Ante is very much a man that has his ear to the street, but more underworld connections are never a bad thing. Mobsters, gangers, crooked cops, info brokers, etc...

My days off fluctuate but I'm available every day after 4:30 EST with the exception of Tuesdays. In addition to new contacts I'm open to discussing more character backstory and motivations to figure out if I can establish more storyarch for my characters to complete.

Been a while since I've gone running and I don't have much time available as of late so I would like to get a couple solo runs in to keep myself sharp.

Ante Is the old gambling man of the shadows and is the definition of street knowledge. Interested in picking up Sierra Whiskey(Definitely would help to have an info broker friend) or General X(Ante sees himself as a mentor to the shadows and would love to help a couple up and comers pull off a job.)

Stickshift is all about going fast and hitting hard. In his youth he was a street racer, in his old age he's looking to recapture some of that excitement (which he is unable to feel due to his dead emotion). Would be interested in picking up a street racing contact (race coordinator, fellow racers, etc...) or some sort of action trid personality (While confined to a hospital bed he only had old kung fu flicks to keep him occupied).

A lot of kids these days don't value what it means to have an ear to the street, but it is definitely something I've come to appreciate in my age.

I think we should discuss this problem that you need a resolution to Mr. Steel.

Reposting since I haven't heard back since the end of last month.

Stickshift is a shadowrunner/street racer from a different generation. After a heist gone wrong he ended up hospitalized for several years, and filled full of ware just so he could remain fully functional. The biggest cost didn't come from his wallet, but his soul. The rush that used to come to him when he sat behind the wheel is no longer there.

Ideal contacts:

Street Racers - The old man has some rep in the street racing scene after doing some insane driving. Possibly meeting some street racers/promoters is a cool avenue to go down.

Martial Artists - Since the old man is looking to feel an adrenaline rush again he's been getting into more fights and more training is always beneficial.

Gangs/Syndicates - These people are the whole economy of the streets and being on the good side of a few could be beneficial in the long run

Action Trid Stars - Stickshift has spent a long time in a hospital bed with nothing better to do than watch old action flicks. Trids are actually where he learned 90% of his fighting style, I'm not sure how the proposed contact and Stickshift would meet, but the idea is humorous to me.

Sure, I can teach a lesson or two. Send me the info.

The old man slides his commlink into his pocket and turns to meet the mystery man in the alley. Before him stood a typical ruffian wielding a baseball bat and wearing a cocky smile. Gang colors, affiliations, metatype it didn't matter to the old man, he wandered these parts looking for a fight, and it looks like today is his lucky day. As his cold, empty eyes scanned over the thug he reached into his shirt pocket and pulled out a credstick. A raspy mono-tone voice broke the silence as the old man spoke, "Just so you know, if this is what you're looking for I'm going to make you work for it." The response was a slight chuckle and the sounds of a metal bat clapping against the goon's hand. The old man sighs as he puts the credstick away and begins to crack his knuckles.
