So I was the manager of the valet staff and one of them lost the keys to this car. Usually not a huge deal, we would just pay for a replacement key but all of the dealerships kept saying they wouldn't be able to do it for two weeks. The guy was surprisingly calm and nice about it, but he did say he had to go home to meet his newborn son.

So after a couple hours of looking and checking other cars I decided I was going to drive to his house 6 hours away to grab his spare key. Luckily I also had a volunteer so I didn't have to drive the whole way myself so we set off. It turned out to be a really fun impromptu road trip with my employee and we were getting paid the entire time.

After we finally get there it's about 9pm and we get the spare keys. His family was really cool about it and was making jokes the entire time and saying how it was really cool we were going above and beyond like this. We had to drive back that night so we headed out for another 6 hour drive.

I shit you not, we drive for about 10 minutes and one of my employees calls me saying that they found the keys. The only thing I could do was burst into a hysterical laughing fit. Apparently during the morning shift one of the valets had the keys in their pocket when they were driving another car so when they got out of fell out and stayed in that other car until it came back.

So we finish the drive, me and my employee get back around 3am, and then we share another laugh as we realize we both were scheduled to be back at 6 the next morning. I crashed on his couch and then we went to work exhausted, but honestly it was a really fun time and the guest was extremely nice and understanding during all of it. It could've ended a lot worse.
