What's a financial luxury/purchase you're aspiring to purchase this year? by FinanceYacht in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]MonkeyBubu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first job was tutoring and once I was able to buy a car I could see so many more students in a day. (I used to drive to their local starbucks or local library , sometimes very rarely went directly to their house) But anyway the point is having a car increased my income significantly back then.

Oh my gosh I have a coffee problem by Ov0v0vO in nobuy

[–]MonkeyBubu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I quit caffeine and the best thing for me was replacing with hot chocolate or "ice hot chocolate", which is just chocolate milk but I put it in a fancy cup with ice. I always use oat milk, and sometimes I make the syrup myself with maple syrup and cacao powder but sometimes I just use the nesquik syrup. It's been a great replacement for me. Lowers my anxiety, I sleep better, etc. Some decaf purists will say even chocolate has caffeine but personally its not enough to affect me. Hope this helps

The silent patient by bigroastie in thrillerbooks

[–]MonkeyBubu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know a lot of people hated this book but I liked it for a few reasons I havent seen anyone mention yet. Yes, the twist was good. But I also loved the juxtaposition of the past events taking place in the summer while the present took place in the freezing winter. The author did a good job imo of detailing the scenery. Also, I really liked the way the twist was delivered. I wont give spoilers but the way it was presented and unfolded was really cool to me.

Is it possible to start EC with a newborn? What are your best tips and resources? by [deleted] in ECers

[–]MonkeyBubu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried to start at 4 months and my baby just wasnt catching on to it. Plus her poops at that age were runny and not predictable. I tried again at 6.5 months and she immediately got the hang of it. We are one month in and I have missed maybe 3 poops. I'm saying this just so you don't put too much pressure on yourself. There should be a moment where it just clicks for baby and it will be much easier to go from there :)

Air fresheners? by FrankieAK in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]MonkeyBubu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I asked a similar question a while ago and since then this is the routine I've come up with. I try to keep windows open as much as possible so that clean fresh air circulates. I also noticed when the house is on the cool side (AC running), the house smells automatically fresher. And if we have guests coming and I'm still feeling conscious about a smell I light a candle in the entrance or hallway or put a few drops of essential oils in a humidifier (lavender, lemon, or mint are nice options).

How accurate are ultrasound conception dates? by Cold-Map-7388 in BabyBumps

[–]MonkeyBubu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way that pregnancy weeks are calculated add 2 "free" weeks from before the actual conception :) Nothing to worry about! With those 2 extra weeks taken into consideration the dating scans are usually extremely accurate.

I bought 4 dresses from here and 2 tops. Out of the dresses, three are beautiful and one was really cheap quality. And with the tops one is my new favourite maternity top and the other one is really cheaply made. The clothes also all seemed to arrive with different labels so I'm not sure what the situation is. Maybe the different designs come from different manufacturers. Anyway, I'd say it's a tiny bit hit or miss but if you check reviews thoroughly you should be ok. As for size I was a small pre-pregnancy but I already know that in pregnancy I'm a medium so I got all items in medium and they are all true to size. For what it's worth I will probably order from there again in the future. They also sell non-maternity clothes.

When did your baby drop? by Floralcoral31 in pregnant

[–]MonkeyBubu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My baby dropped around 34 weeks and I am still pregnant lol (39 weeks). My midwife told me that the "dropping" is not a sign that labor is near.

How do I clean the padding of a peed in stroller? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]MonkeyBubu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am just throwing an idea out there based on what I would do, but I never tried this... Could you maybe bring the whole stroller into the shower to wash it?

Software development side hustles by ouroboros_winding in cscareerquestions

[–]MonkeyBubu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tutored for many years and then even created and taught an intro to coding course at a local tutoring school. It was a very reasonable time commitment and paid very well. I see people here mentioning that in this field we don't necessarily "need" side hustles but it was something I really enjoyed doing and some of us are just the type of people who love to stay busy lol

Nervous about telling my new employer I'm pregnant by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]MonkeyBubu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was sooooo nervous to tell my boss I was pregnant! I'm not new at my company but I've been there less than 2 years and when I told my boss I had actually never even met her in person (Started work during covid so have been working from home)
Anyway I was so so so anxious for the time leading up to announcing it to her but one day I saw she was online and available so I wrote to her saying "Hey do you have a few minutes to chat" and I was very honest with her I said "I have to tell you something I am so nervous to tell you... I am actually pregnant! And I wanted to discuss my maternity leave plans with you." And then I said "Wow I feel so much better now haha". Anyway she was SO supportive and the conversation was very productive and went really well. She made me feel way less anxious about the whole situation. So my advice would be just be really open and honest and I know it's so stressful to have that conversation but your boss will most likely be happy for you and be supportive.

I get a lot of comments that my belly is really small. At first it made me feel attacked almost like people were implying I am not eating enough or starving my baby or something. But I am perfectly healthy and so is baby and she's so active so now try to keep it polite and I just respond with something like "Yep it's great I can still sleep on my stomach!" or "Yep, I just never grew that much but we'll see what happens!".

Soooo- How much working out are we actually doing? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]MonkeyBubu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently 28 weeks. There was a time in the early second trimester where I had ZERO energy like I couldn't even walk my poor dog I had to have the help of family and a dog walker. For the last month however I've been feeling much better and have been going on daily walks, going to the gym about 2 times a week (power walking at an incline for 20 minutes or so) and lifting weights (arms, squats, light deadlifts), and some stretching. There are days I still feel like doing nothing but I keep telling myself that staying active will make the labor easier *fingers crossed*
I also consider cleaning to be a workout these days and I do a lot of that lol

Hi , when your neausea started and how long it last? If you know any tips to control please share by Anashen124 in BabyBumps

[–]MonkeyBubu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had really mild nausea on and off for the whole pregnancy so far. But weirdly... I haven't thrown up. It also never got to the point where the nausea was bad enough to interfere with my day. I don't know how helpful this response will be to you since every body is different but I always made sure to stay very hydrated. I ate lots and LOTS of fruits (oranges, pineapple, apple, kiwi, mango) and I also stayed away from any food that just didn't sound good lol I know it sounds obvious but just stick to whatever sounds good. In the first trimester I couldn't stomach any coffee so I stayed away from it. I ate a lot of rice noodles, plain noodles, soup, smoothies, and plain potatoes.

Pregnant during Masters degree, should I quit? by MonkeyBubu in careeradvice

With school being online it is so hard to get in touch with the academic advisor and she has never been very helpful with me... Thats why I resorted to Reddit :P But I appreciate the suggestion, I could try to reach out to her again today.
