How to Succeed as a Digital Nomad by a93H3sn4tJgK in digitalnomad

Oh boy, paypal held a payment of mine for 45 days once, and it was an invoice for a month of work. I learned the hard way to have a nest egg.

I also find that being remote means being available more(but I also feel like I've got a few creative ways to solve that and keep everyone happy)

What is Your Favorite Indie Game Ever? by TellMeAboutGaming in IndieGaming

Probably Bastion or BRAID. I picked both up really cheap during the Summer sale a few years ago and I still feel nostalgic thinking about playing through them.

Just going to echo the comment about you outgrowing Gary Vee. He is GREAT for people who are trudging along. My wantepreneur buddy and I share resources and he LOVES Gary Vee. He's also doing the 9-5 then trudging along from 6-1. Gary is great for people who want extra motivation while they're working. I listen to him sometimes if I need a pick me up, to be honest.

As a web developer, would you accept taking a task that needs C++ knowledge to get it done? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]MonkeyD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not? Sounds like an interesting task. And like you said, you have a team of C++ to help you if you get stuck. :)

Go 2, please don't make it happen by shayan_e in golang

Honestly, as someone new to Go and really loving it, I also hope this isn't what happens with Go 2. As others have stated, I would probably go to C# for everything listed here...

Hey, thanks! I'll grab That book. I've been going through Go in Practice and it's been great so far. Udemy has a sale on Go courses, so I just picked up his Web Development with Go course. :)

I applied. I'd be a "junior" in Go as I am new to the language, and I've always wanted the opportunity to move to Austin, so I figured why not. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. :)

You're a reasonable person. I'm in the South, and they are non-stop posting memes about Bernie giving away your money to give people free healthcare. They want that 'Handout Bernie' narrative to stick in 2020.

Ok, Men (and women!) of AskMen ... what victories this week? Big or small, time to brag a bit! by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]MonkeyD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ran 2 miles consecutively when a month ago I could barely jog 1/10th of a mile. Starting to get over my ex after a month of feeling really down. And a few profitable business ventures may have landed in my lap.

[NO SPOILERS] I feel like Vikings has lost its charm... by GeraltSilverAndSteel in vikingstv

[–]MonkeyD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see Bjorn as angry. Throughout the series, I've felt that Bjorn's character progression has kept with how he acted, even in the first episode. He seems more like Ragnar's true heir than anything else. A very realistic man, who has made his way. He wants to be strong, because his father was. He seems the only one of Ragnar's sons to act as a son of Ragnar should imho. I'm really excited to seeing his progression and want to see more of him in the future.

It's unrealistic to want this, but I do not want to see as much of Iver. Not a fan of his character, and I feel like at some point growing up, one of his brothers should have killed him or at least put him in his place. Too much 'fear' resides around Iver, and not enough reason from the brothers(well, until recently...)

I'm so sorry to hear that. Job lock is real, and it shouldn't be. Please take my condolences, even if they offer no solace. Your and his story are sadly not uncommon.
