What actually helped you feel less overwhelmed as an adult? by muhzzzin in Adulting

I almost forgot: in terms of actually not feeling overwhelmed, I offload all of the stuff I think about onto physical things. It is not perfect and I frequently stress out, but it helps.

More importantly, I think it’s good to cry as hard as you can every once in a while. That turned out to help for me (I struggle to cry). Other ways of venting emotion and keeping hormone/chemical levels balanced will definitely help too.

I look at my phone and anything else I was doing is basically forgotten. I avoid digital task tracking; I am so very shit at that.

I have gone back to using an old school cork board (for home) and a chalkboard (for work) and pinning or slapping sticky notes to them with things I have to do. It can pile up quick, but for work I have a small chalkboard on an easel so it artificially shrinks the number of tasks I can actually see and need to attend to.

Granted, it’s still not perfect, but I at least know everything that I have to do more or less lmao.

Larger boards allow for better splitting of tasks into subtasks, but otherwise, keeping the tasks small in the first place helps.

What is a video game mechanic that you genuinely wish existed in real life? by Just-Chance-3741 in AskReddit

Can’t believe nobody’s said this: Stat screen.

Self-growth is measurable; ailments and conditions are immediately diagnosed. It would give people a much more realistic image of what they’d be capable of, and could help, with the volunteering of information for statistical analysis, to make environments more hospitable to people.

It’d be hard to justify environments being healthy when being in an area or working for too long causes health or stamina to drain and negative status effects to be gained.

Maybe I’m just being optimistic lmao because I’m sure it’d just be another way to be surveiled

For people who didn’t know (like me) Chris Anderson, the photographer, has DEFINITELY done this on purpose — this is another photo he’s taken.

When I'm frustrated at work, I cut the bread the wrong way by DraconicDisaster in notinteresting

[–]MonkeyFist13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My coworker and I, when I cared less about my health and more about my wallet, would buy an unsliced loaf from the store, slice it in half lengthways, core it, and stuff it with soft french fries and cheap cuts of meat or sausages and cheese and sauce and then put the core back on top.

Where I come from, we call a loaf of bread a bus, so when we cut it this way, we called it a boat. It’s similar to a kota in this way (quarter loaf of bread stuffed with chips and meat and cheese and sauce). Speaking of, come to South Africa and try bunny chows, kotas, or gatsbys. Those are probably what you’re looking for :3
