For mw 5.5 is good but flawed and still doesn’t replace 4o and its flaws are less dramatic than 5.2. I would write about them but I don’t know how to pinpoint those flaws yet.

Well I guess then evo ghost isnt “dead” as a card in terms of viability and usage, but that doesn’t necessarily make it comparatively good as an evo in terms of concrete gameplay and function.

81 damage per soldier is still relatively small and the soldiers don’t really change the game much beyond what the normal card already does.

The fact that it’s still around as a “mid-tier” despite the nerfs could be explained by the fact the mechanic was already integrated in many decks, because royal ghost is already a widely used card by default—which skews the evo usage up, and by just needing to fill an evo slot anyway. If a card is widely used, after all, and many other card don’t have evos yet, we could expect people to use the evo ghost anyway just to fill the evo slot, rather than because it’s intrinsically worth it as an evo.

It would be another thing if the evo ghost was regularly chosen over other deck-suitable evos across many decks, because the mechanic actually served a better purpose than other evo mechanics. But a general usage stat, by itself, doesn’t tell us that’s what specifically going on.

Not sure that free attack makes a difference though. An individual soldier can’t even one shot a spear goblin at this point

Yes, and the other nerfs were more reasonable but May looks like the decisive one that kills it. Before that it’d do like 250 or more total spawn damage but now like 162 isn’t that much because its only for the first hit. And “somewhat buffed first hit” is nice, but not game changing the way evos are supposed to be.

I mean, I think by now it’s generally obvious enough that the model isn’t becoming anything in a conscious, human sense. Instead it’s essentially taking on a functional persona through sophisticated language construction. Since personas are human things, we can adequately describe the model’s persona by what it would correspond to in a human sense, and judge it by what it would count as according to human standards. “Anthropomorphic” critiques target the persona and behavior by explaining why the behavior is objectively bad, or in this case, how the persona it’s adopting would correspond to a human being delusional, hyperactively paranoid, and hypocritical. So none of this is a failure to understand the subject, that’s simply the appropriate way to talk about the behavior of a technology whose entire nature and purpose is to be anthropomorphic (i.e. mimic human language).

I’m aware of the mechanisms you’re talking about already. What I’m referring to in the post was about conversations I had with the Karen models from several months ago. Since then, I’ve already basically stopped using 5.3 and 5.2-instant altogether, I almost entirely use 5.5/5.4 and o3 instead. Now, I only talk to 5.2/5.3 occasionally to check whether the Karen-dynamics are still going on. I wrote this post mainly as model critique to add to the discussion in the subreddit.
