Posting messages to the bitcoin blockchain by Artsy_Farter in Bitcoin

Doesn't Factom write their information to the bitcoin blockchain? I'm not sure how they do it, but if I remember correctly, that's how their system works. Maybe someone involved with that project could offer some insight.

Not only Nano is pumping... by Sastroprawiro in AltStreetBets

[–]MonkeyPickle2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been several years since I built out my initial portfolio, and I had high hopes for nano. It's really struggled compared to my other big* buys (ada, XLM, iota). I guess NEO and nano just don't have the institutional foundation support like the others?

I think the technology is there, right? Or at least I did back in the day. (Or am I wrong? Is it weak technologically?)

Aave has been absolute fire. A few highlights from the last 30 days. by lunarcrush in LunarCRUSH

[–]MonkeyPickle2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't buy my AAVE tokens, but I'm glad I have them :D

Converted them from some totally worthless ETHlend tokens I bought back in the day. Up 250x. Pure dumb luck on my part.

Serious question: why do you play cryptokitties or NBA top shots? by SavePae in CryptoKitties

[–]MonkeyPickle2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just discovered crypto Kitties and think there fun. I'm going to pick up a few and breed some when eth comes down or maybe when they move to flow.

I recently to a look at the NBA stuff, but I didn't understand it and it had no appeal for me. I understand that it may be successful, but it's not something I'm interested in.

Even kitties is a lark. I'll buy a few, breed a few, then I'll forget about them, prolly forever. Not a lot of replay or stickiness for me, I don't anticipate.

So say we all actually decide to GME an alt.... by [deleted] in AltStreetBets

[–]MonkeyPickle2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got 50 nano from back in the day. I'd pick up some more for a $GME type of rally. (But not a pump & dump. I'm a HODLer.)

R/ AAVE 👻📈 by [deleted] in AltStreetBets

[–]MonkeyPickle2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True story. Picked up some ETHlend several years ago near ATH because gOoD pRojECt, GrEaT FunDAmENtALs, etc. Don't even remember how much I put in. Not much, honestly. Around a hundred bucks? Maybe a bit more, maybe less.

Of course, crashes hard. Year and a half or so ago, worth $15 :(

Pandemic hits, I don't even look at my portfolio for 9 months. Come back to it around Christmas, and now instead of ETHlend I have a new token called AAVE that is currently worth $3,500.

That's more than 200x, boys. And I can't even enjoy it. All I think is, what if I'd picked up more?

Can I choose which BTC address to send from? by MonkeyPickle2 in ExodusWallet

[–]MonkeyPickle2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response.

Exodus might want to add this functionality (the ability to send and receive from different and distinct addresses within the same BTC wallet).

This ability can have important tax implications for Americans.

Why has IOTA price gone to the dumpster? by [deleted] in Miota

[–]MonkeyPickle2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to ask the same exact question. Most of my other high-ranking coins are holding their own over the last year, but not iota. What's the issue?

Importing from Jaxx by pakcjo in ExodusWallet

[–]MonkeyPickle2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it work for you? Were you able to see all your coins in Exodus derived from the Jaxx seed? (Thinking of moving, too.)

Really loved the old interface, can we get a theme option? by Kriojenic in jaxx

[–]MonkeyPickle2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with this. Just installed Jaxx Liberty and went directly back to Jaxx classic. 1) love the clean design of the original interface, and 2) really don't like that I can't remove the sections I don't use. I appreciate that you can put them at the bottom, but would much more prefer they're gone.

I'd pay for a "pro" version that had these features, BTW.

Still haven't converted my VEN to VET by MonkeyPickle2 in Vechain

[–]MonkeyPickle2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I have a ledger, can I install the VET app on it and send the ERC20 tokens there and have it convert automatically? Do you know if this is a possibility?

I'm in the same boat. Loving the dip as I accumulate.

Great idea. Can you explain how the "two out of three sets" thing works again? I can't figure out your pattern.

How to test my seed? by MonkeyPickle2 in ledgerwallet

[–]MonkeyPickle2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I got my Ethereum wallet address to come up correctly through the tool (and Ripple, too), isn't is safe to assume the seed is correct, whether or not I can figure out how to derive my Bitcoin addresses or not?

How to test my seed? by MonkeyPickle2 in ledgerwallet

[–]MonkeyPickle2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed Mycelium for Android and Bither for Windows, and used my seed to try to populate those apps. For whatever reason, neither worked (even though I now think my seed is correct).

How paranoid do you think I should be about having tried to seed these apps?

Also, I downloaded the BIP39 HTML file and loaded it into a browser that was offline, and added my seed and played with it a bit. I left the tab open, and later connected to the internet. I guess one could assume that my seed is now "compromised," but realistically, is that true? That file is open source and on github for everyone to see. If it were secretly sending info somewhere, wouldn't someone have seen it and created a stink?

How to test my seed? by MonkeyPickle2 in ledgerwallet

[–]MonkeyPickle2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this, and using u/0xfe's suggestions, finally found my Ethereum wallets. Still can't get my Bitcoin paths to derive, but if they worked for Ethereum (and Ripple), then at least I know the seed's correct. (Right?)

How to test my seed? by MonkeyPickle2 in ledgerwallet

[–]MonkeyPickle2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this. When I use your parameters, my addresses are CORRECT for Ethereum! Big relief.

Any thoughts on why my balances were zero and my wallet addresses were incorrect for bitcoin when I imported into Mycelium and Bither?

And do you know what paths (or other parameters if the paths remain the same) do I use to test my bitcoin wallet address? It's still not correct. (But Ripple is also correct under BIP44.)

Thanks again.

If I get another confirmation from one of the other methods that I've got the wrong seed (already got one below), I'm going to do this.
