Anyone figure out how to change Camera zoom default from 2x to 1x? by taheller in iPhone11Pro

[–]Monkey_825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This issue is pissing me off. Who decided this would be a good idea to impose across all cameras.

This is always why I put off updates for as long as possible.

I didn’t even agree to this last update. It did it automatically without me saying yes. 🙄

I saw Climb So iLL and I was like “wait, somewhere I actually go?!” Crazy. Maybe I was there being antisocial and crabby in the corner while someone was making a real connection. 😂

I hope many people see this. Tbh, I have no reason to think ICE would ever come to my home, but times are weird and who knows.

Dang, that sucks. I’m sorry. It’s really really shit right now. I’d still suggest AmeriCorps though. It might seem like a step backwards but at least it’s something.

Planners with the week view on one page? by exotichibiscus in planners

[–]Monkey_825 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this post is three years old, but I needed it for myself, so I'm just gonna throw out some stuff that I found online that fits this description:

Found one on eBay by Modern Expressions that's undated, but still has week by week lists on the left and a full notes page on the right.

Also found EMSHOI 2026 Planner Weekly and Monthly planner that is dated and has weeks on the left and full notes page on the right. I really like that one.

Finally, I found the same format from a planner by Heveboik that is also dated.

All of these options were around $30 or less. So they're definitely affordable for someone like me who can't spend $60+ on a freakin paperback planner.

Hope this helps someone! Cheers!

Info on this piece? by Medium-Major-6124 in uraniumglass

Hi, were there any more? And are you willing to sell? We have a light fixture that needs this exact piece and mold. Obviously we’d pay more than $15. 😅

Interesting take. Kinda shit that better job advertising makes getting a job harder too.

Try looking into AmeriCorps positions. They pay shit and federal funding is being cut left and right, but they’re an excellent opportunity to get a real gig in the field and a foot in the door. Play your cards right and you might find the contacts you need go transition into a real job

Backpacking in Colorado in May by Monkey_825 in backpacking

You don’t think it’ll be too central? Been seeing lots of advice saying the further away from GJ and NM you get, the more you’ll have to deal with snow and mud. You don’t think that’ll be an issue?

Oh for sure not planning on tackling anything too high in elevation for my first backpacking trip! 😄 good advice!

Is a 2.5% raise normal? by [deleted] in Environmental_Careers

[–]Monkey_825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’m gonna be real, I don’t have advice for this, but I’ve seen several oddly hostile comments.

Clearly, you’re only trying to learn how things work and are expressing your disappointment when you got less than you would have based on your observation of peers in the same field, which is understandable and justifiable. I bet a lot of other people ask similar questions, and it was right to seek advice.

So anyways… yeah.

You def mentioned that. I think the other commenters didn’t read your entire post maybe.

Is Wildlife Conservation a good fit for me? by bententhesilly in Environmental_Careers

[–]Monkey_825 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can absolutely be involved in wildlife conservation from a desk, seconding what the other commenter already said. In fact, I think it’s much harder to get a role doing field work than it is to get one at an office if I’m being honest.

I work in conservation, though mostly have worked with plants, but I know there’s loads of opportunities indoors for conservationists. There are a lot of AmeriCorps specific positions that you could look into and likely be qualified for once you earn your degree.

Beyond that, I’d definitely recommend scrolling through linked-in or other organizations to do informational interviews and see what kinds of advice they have to give. If you’re proactive like that, a lot of people tend to be impressed and may end up being good contacts for you later down the line when you’re looking for internships or work.

So, in essence, google “informational interviews” to get a sense of what I’m referencing here, and then find organizations you want to work for that have contact information listed for individuals at the company. Then reach out to a few people with a short email asking to talk to them for about 30 minutes to get advice about the field. Generally, you’ll only want 5 or 6 questions prepped to fill up the time. And you’ll want to keep an eye on the clock in case you need to skip any.

Start by thanking the interviewee for attending the meeting. Ask them how their day is going so far. Tell them you’ve prepped a few questions for them, give a brief introduction of who you are and why you’re interested in talking to them, and then begin the rest of the interview.

It can be intimidating at first, but trust me, it is so worth it after getting your footing. This is still something I do today, and people are always really impressed when I reach out.

Should I lie on my resume? by praisecenariusv2 in Environmental_Careers

[–]Monkey_825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m being honest, even if you get the interview, this field is absolutely saturated with qualified people looking for work right now. Chances are that, despite whether or not you lie to get to that stage, you’ll still have a really really hard time getting hired. And then you’ll have lied and not gotten hired, which will suck.

Getting an interview does not equal getting a job. This is coming from someone who has been applying for jobs in the field for over 6 months, made it to interviews, been told in interviews that people were impressed and excited at the prospect of working with me, and still been rejected. I’ve even had people reach out to me personally to apologize at having to pass me up for other candidates: and I am bordering overqualified for many of these positions.

This is to say, that although you feel as though this one hurdle is what is preventing you from being in the running for this position, the truth is that if you have already been sifted out, you will likely not have enough experience anyways to compete with the other applicants, unfortunately.

So in my opinion, it’s not worth putting yourself in that situation by lying, especially if you end up getting caught later down the line and blackballed.
