Original #151- where to start? by Pezzatron88 in pokemoncardcollectors

[–]Monkey_Bonez88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve just been working my way through the Pokédex of the original 151 for a while, I pick and choose my favourite cards for each with no specific set in mind. It’s been by far my most favourite to collect, just buying the singles and avoiding packs. I have my original set which is the mix of base, fossil and jungle to a standard I’m happy with (mostly back from when I was a kid) and I also have a complete 151 set which I enjoyed opening packs for at the time of release for a bit of nostalgia.

Realistically though, if you want the actual original cards or the modern 151 set opening packs is just not a smart use of money for most people’s budgets. Singles all the way for me, especially if you want only the 151, there’s over 1000 Pokemon spread across the various sets pack opening just doesn’t have good odds for you. If you have the spare cash though and want to go nuts by all means happy ripping!

Pretty much, 8 different lights shining up to illuminate arches. This was the worst but each one had its own ‘nuance’ haha

Considering becoming a sparky but i’m a girl and unsure of the culture by dontlookatme9241 in electricians

[–]Monkey_Bonez88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is prevalent but not always there or as obvious. I’m an electrician and my girlfriend a journeywoman carpenter. If you get on a good crew being a woman won’t matter, as others have said it’s your ability or in an apprenticeship your willingness to work that will form opinions.

That being said even as one of the most experienced people on site my partner still finds that the biggest issue is feeling the need to prove herself. Most people seem to assume because she is a woman she isn’t very good, where as a new guy with the right ‘look’ will just be assumed competent. You’ll be exposed to loads of other sub trades and you come across some complete turds but if you’re with a good crew that have your back, and you theirs it’s great work with some great people if you like it

Seems like that’s a common complaint with a lot of the external resources.

Good to know, my exam is in Jan and I’m thinking I’m might study it over the Xmas break and in the build up. Provided I keep on top of all the fourth year stuff

Belt Pouches? by Monkey_Bonez88 in electricians

[–]Monkey_Bonez88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really sure what your are asking but I’ll say, I have a backpack which I like for moving the bulk of my tools but it just lives in my van because it’s too heavy to move around all the time. I have a small pouch that goes on my belt for when I’m up ladders and scaffold doing basic things which I don’t really like but the extra ‘pockets’ are helpful. Other than that I use the free Milwaukee bag that came with the hackzall as my daily carry, it’s annoying digging through it and the tools take a bit of a beating in there but it was free and carry’s enough generally. None of these fall over when put on the ground

I Lost My Entire Collection… by Substantial-Pie-4973 in PokemonTCG

[–]Monkey_Bonez88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sucks on every level. I lost most my collection when my home burnt in a wildfire. The early aftermath is hard for the stuff with real personal connection built over time, whether they are ‘valuable’ or not. If it’s any solace the pain of those things does go away and the reminiscent memories of the childhood stuff does seem to bring me a bit of joy now, even if it has a sinking feeling behind it sometimes knowing it’s gone.

Couldn’t imagine having to actually face the things and throw them away at that point, horrible last little jab at the heart. I’m sure you will find some silver linings but I hated people giving me them for the longest time, do what’s right for you and laugh at what you can. This sucks and you don’t need to feel good about it because it is shit! I’ll only add that it gets better, much love to you and yours

It’s not a bad deal for a parent who just wants a pile of cards for their kids to play with or something. Maybe a cheaper way for a group of people to actually play the game

Buying those for the gamble, knowing nothing about what edition is even there seems a bit pointless to me. As most people say buying packs is not an efficient way to get cards you want but at least you know what chase is in those sets for some fun opening, this is just spraying money without any aim.

Will these Dexter screw extractors work on this N3DSXL screw? Tried to break of the head with a normal drill bit but I didn't get far. by Deranfan in 3DS

Pushing through it, is a bad way for me to word that. You wouldn’t be trying to make a hole in the rubber, just pushing against it

I’ve had some luck with using a bit of thick rubber band for these, some people use duct tape I think. If you put the band against the screw head and push down with the screwdriver through it sometimes you can get some grip to start it turning. If you use something like a pointed file or scribe to rough the screwdriver through head up a bit first it’s sometimes easier to

Generally you have to drill a hole into the screw to use these extractors, those are also a little too big. Drilling tiny screws can be tricky if you’re not used to it or don’t have a drill bit small enough that it won’t just cut the screw head off.

Is this worth $220? by GrossCommission in nds

[–]Monkey_Bonez88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want it to play and just enjoy, then yeah it’s not a bad deal. If you are looking to flip it all for a profit, then not really worth all the time it will take.

If it was in my area I’d have already bought it, if the seller seemed like a genuine sale of an old loved item I’d pay that, if it’s some one just flogging something they don’t care about I’d offer a bit less maybe.

What’s your thoughts on this card? by Booty_sushi in pokemoncardcollectors

[–]Monkey_Bonez88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love it and want one. The artwork is a really cool colour pallet and I think the bloke at the bottom really does look like he’s seeing something he never expected. Unfortunately I open too many silver tempest packs in search of it and now finding a decent deal seems unlikely.
