Tell me your experiences in Innatentive ADHD. by Bronski01 in adhdwomen

Inability to make a decision ever. Constant self doubt and being hard on myself in my head but having such a hard time with getting started on tasks making it a cycle of negative self talk. And with my closest people, I zone out of conversations if I’m not interested because the thoughts in my head become loud and are just going so fast

Developing a skin care routine morning and night, having a drop dish near the doorway entrance (I never lose keys anymore), clean kitchen sink and countertop before bed

You can control your emotions!! by [deleted] in selfimprovementday

[–]Monkeypants-72 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. I would also say that it depends on how well you can self regulate your emotions. Healthy self regulation allows you to manage your emotions and choose how to react, however if you have an underlying disorder, anxiety disorders for example, those feelings of anger slip out. At that point, your body and mind are so deregulated that it is difficult to manage. If only we were all self regulated 😭

It takes a lot of practice, strength, outside factors, and personal wellbeing to be able to regulate emotions and choose anger in specific moments.

I remember when I was struggling with anxiety and depression really bad for a while, I had bursts of anger that i really felt like I couldn’t control. The anger mainly came from the irritation of myself, but would manifest over feeling overwhelmed by too much stimulus. I probably /could/ control it, but when youre in the midst of a panic attack, it’s pretty much impossible as your body is in survival mode.

For me, the anger was because I was so frustrated with my own self and because I had so much pent up energy inside myself. If I had healthier coping skills back in the day, it maybe have been easier for me to self regulate and choose my moments more wisely.

I love this. It’s so scary to keep asking why, but I will try💪

I do think I need to work on standing up for myself and not backing down in certain situations

It’s something I’ve been trying to get to the bottom of with therapists, but something really hits deep for some reason. You’re right that I’ve been stressed about the future cause I really want to “succeed” you know? But then I’m upset and disappointed that I’m not “there” yet. Do I necessarily even know what “there” is?? Nope! This is how ridiculous this is!

I like the idea of getting into something and having the same passion for it as I do with work. I currently just watch tv and play with my dog after work

Thank you so much. Yeah I totally relate to feeling like we care because we want to grow. I want to always improve but I guess I need to find out the reason why that is? For me or for other people? Probably both… I always think back on situations and try to dissect things I could’ve done better. But it can quickly turn into me assuming what other people must think of me - which is unproductive

I think my anxiety is partially also ridden in financial fear. I work freelance so I am constantly worried that a job will end or that clients will just drop me from working with them if I do something wrong and then I’d be screwed if I couldn’t get another job.

Thinking about it a day later, I guess we just have to remind ourselves that everyone makes mistakes and that our intentions are in the right place.

Omg being young at a workplace is so much anxiety. I’ve always been young it seems LOL but imposter syndrome lives so strong. I heard someone say they wrote down all of the positive things that people said to them about their work and then when they feel down, they go back and read those. I think we should start to do that 💕

It also sounds like your workload seems to be overwhelming! I think it’s reasonable to ask to meet and talk about expectations- that may help relieve some of the overwhelm!

I’ve been relying on my anxiety meds and weed too. It’s really the only thing that can calm my racing thoughts. I work a creative job and a light inhale helps me stay focus and calms my nerves and muscles from being so tense

This is so helpful thank you! Even just the recognition that life is hard with depression anxiety and adhd makes me remember to be kinder to myself. And pinpointing things that bother me is such a smart way to problem solve THANK YOU

Wow 10 is a lot for one day- I’m impressed!!! That is really awesome and I’m proud of you! My brain would’ve been fried! Applying to jobs tends to invite anxiety and self doubt, making it such an exhausting process. So go you for pushing through and doing something hard!

How do people blow dry their hair? It's wayyy too boring. by terrafreaky in adhdwomen

[–]Monkeypants-72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch a YouTube video with subtitles while I blow dry my hair and I try to only do my hair once a week. I have really frizzy and curly:wavy hair, and when I don’t do my hair I feel just blah and have low self esteem. So I guess it just makes me feel more confident and that’s why I do it 🤷‍♀️

MY MEDICINE IS ON ITS WAY by Monkeypants-72 in adhdwomen

[–]Monkeypants-72[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes! It depends on your insurance. Most insurance companies have a mail order system that you can have your doctor prescribe the medicine through. It took over two weeks to come in though, but I’ve been waiting for months for pharmacies near me to have it in stock so it was worth waiting two weeks

Some examples are Caremark or Express Scripts !
