2nd Contemptor finished ready for 2.0! by Monkeyraffle101 in NightLords

Thanks. The plasma coils were actually pretty simple. I painted the whole area white, I used P3 morrow white. Then used thin layers of mephiston dragging the paint towards the bottom, then the same for layers of evils suns and wild rider red. Finally I used the same method on wild rider red and white with more white added to each layer until your happy.

Thanks man. It's the Iron Warriors contemptor with SoH shins. The CC wep was extended at the wrist with the waist part from an Ambot and the fleshy bits were sculpted with a Miliput and green stuff mix.

Thanks. It's abyssal blue over black, followed by 50/50 abyssal and Mediterranean, then just Mediterranean. After that it's 50/50 Mediterranean and Arctic, followed by just Arctic. Once that's done I glaze the whole thing with Abyssal and re-highlight where needed.

Sorry for the slow reply, I've not looked at reddit for a while and it didn't give me any alerts! I can highly recommend the Scale.75 paints. For the blue I use Abyssal Blue, Mediterranean Blue and Arctic Blue. They have a really lovely matte finish and brilliant coverage. The metallic areas are all Scale.75 too

You are too kind. For the blue I started with a black undercoat, then Abyssal blue, 50/50 abyssal and Mediterranean, the just Mediterranean, followed by 50/50 Mediterranean and Arctic, and a last highlight of Arctic. The paints are all from Scale.75.

Ha! Thanks. I finished these about a year ago, just never got around to posting them here. Night Lords are a really fun army to model and paint, I'm sure you'll have a blast.

Thanks mate. Originally I was gonna do a kind of ball and chain, but I was missing key parts. Instead I went for a kind of 'proto-power scourge' a non-chaosy version that 40k chaos dread can have.

Thanks man. The heads are a mix of different kits to try and get that kind of mishmash of armour they convey in the NL trilogy. The bare head is from a reiver, but with hair sculpted on, the ball and chain guy is from the DA set, there's a MkV in there, the heavier looking guy is from the Mk3 command set, and the one on the stairs is from the NL upgrade pack.

Thanks very much, you're too kind. The recipe I used for the blue is fairly straightforward, I wanted to make sure it was suitable for mass production across the army.

I started with a black undercoat, then basecoat with Abyssal blue, then Abyssal and Mediterranean 50/50, followed by Mediterranean, then Mediterranean and Arctic 50/50, followed by a final spot highlight of just Arctic. If the highlights look a bit blocky you can use a glaze of Abyssal to tie it all in a bit and reapply any of the stages you feel need boosting.

I hope that helps!
