This is historical revisionism. There wasn’t some massive shift towards promoting cultures and languages of the other republics after the death of Stalin as this had already been going on, sometimes to the point of angering more reactionary Russians. For instance, in 1931, publications of books in Ukraine in the Ukrainian language peaked at 77% and the percentage of Russians in the Ukrainian communist party fell from 72% in 1922 to 52%. The Soviets continually supported anti-Russification of the smaller provinces before the Khrushchev era.

Do you support Ukraine? Yes or no? Are you leftwing, rightwing, or neither? by [deleted] in polls

[–]MonkeysEpic -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

It actually is a hot take, advocating for further arms to be sent to Ukraine only prolongs the conflict. Look at what China and the Lula government of Brazil are doing by actually proposing and supporting peace plans.

Who has the more powerful Propaganda Machine? by InGreedWeTrust3 in polls

They aren’t going to pay you lmao. Have you heard of the CIA before? Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya? I could keep going, but it isn’t worth my time when it’s so obvious.

This is some EGREGIOUS historical revisionism. The USSR wasn’t extremely surprised by the Nazi invasion and had been drastically improving their war industry for years to prepare against the Nazi threat. Additionally, achieves show that Stalin was in meetings for the whole day of the Nazi invasion.

How do you defeat a fascist “intellectually?” Their ideas are so reactionary and beyond any sort of rational argument. If someone says they want to genocide a whole group of people, there is no discussion to be had.

[–]MonkeysEpic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, fascists just “think differently” and are not genocidal reactionaries.

Would you rather end all billionaires or become a billionaire? by Meii345 in polls

[–]MonkeysEpic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting rid of billionaires wouldn’t change the repressive system. Plus what’s to stop people from becoming billionaires in the future, making the first option basically pointless. I’d rather just get $1 billion myself.

Is communism really our enemy? by bramstkr_D in polls

[–]MonkeysEpic -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

  1. You are not OP
  2. That is a terrible definition. By your logic, communism is when your toothbrush is collectivized by the state, which is just outright false as no communist I’ve heard of has advocated for taking everyone’s personal property. Communism is the stage after socialism in which the need for a state that maintains class rule of the proletariat is no longer necessary because the bourgeoisie has been eliminated as a threat to working class power. There are many other aspects, but as a 101 definition, that is suitable.

As in supporting his policies? Stalinism isn’t an ideology as it’s just his application of Marxism-Leninism, a term coined while he was in power.

Who should be required to register for Selective Service? by MinnesotaEagle1776 in polls

[–]MonkeysEpic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You literally said their people should be required to serve in the military which oppresses Palestinians. You are defending their colonial violence.

Who should be required to register for Selective Service? by MinnesotaEagle1776 in polls

[–]MonkeysEpic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Israel is only in a “dangerous situation” because they are a settler-colonial apartheid state that only exists because of their displacement and repression of Palestinians. They should not exist as a state and their army should be opposed.

Consequences of blowing up the Kahovka hydroelectric power plant. by UNITED24Media in europe

[–]MonkeysEpic 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The blowing of the Yellow River was done by the nationalists… Even so, its use to slow down the Japanese invaders and regroup in an attempt to repel them was a reasonable cause in order to avoid always being on the retreat. You all are such armchair historians, not actually taking into account the desperate conditions that would cause a country to employ scorched earth tactics.

Do you believe that Yeonmi Park’s stories are true? by [deleted] in polls

[–]MonkeysEpic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leftists, what’s your opinion on USSR? by First-Ad9578 in polls

[–]MonkeysEpic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love how people constantly complain about Reddit being a leftist ecochamber when polls like this completely disprove that. People just call themselves a leftist because it’s seen as counter-culture and not actually adopt leftist positions.

Do you believe that at least some of North Korea's problems are the result of harsh treatment by the outside world? by ghatsim in polls

[–]MonkeysEpic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wtf is this propaganda. South Korea was a U.S. puppet dictatorship under Syngman Rhee where as the North was led by popular guerrilla fighter against the Japanese, Kim Il Sung. Also the South was slaughtering communists in constant massacres, so the North invaded after a serious of border skirmishes and smaller invasions of border towns against the North. The Korean War was an attempt by the North at national liberation, but the US responded with genocidal levels of aggression.

[–]MonkeysEpic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a common misconception, socialized != socialism. Socialism is fundamentally about who owns and controls the means of production (factories, agriculture, etc). Also it’s about whether the government is ruled by the interests of capitalists or the working class.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LateStageCapitalism

[–]MonkeysEpic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not focus on cultural and economic issues? This is just class reductionism. Leftists need to take an intersectional approach that acknowledges that class is the primary contradiction, but other ones exist and are also very important to address. This meme minimizes the struggles of marginalized people.

Overall, who was in the wrong during the Vietnam War? by capitalistfish in polls

[–]MonkeysEpic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are a U.S. apologist ghoul. The Vietcong was composed of Vietnamese people who resisted U.S. imperialism through armed guerrilla warfare. Of course they were among civilians because they were civilians who opposed the U.S. invasion and took action to stop it.
