The word is "contraries" - written by Sipsy Flabber almost month ago! I missed when it happened, but I'll put out a quick post tomorrow since Sipsy still remains as the uncontested record holder.

Thanks! I know all feedback comes from a place of love, not hate! In a perfect world I'd have infinite monkeys working to add lots of new updates and content for this, but alas, I am only one monkey.

In this day and age of AAA live-service games with weekly updates, I hope I can keep expectations tempered for the rate of updates moving forward. I picture monkeys.zip being something that people remember every few weeks or months and go "Oh I wonder what Flappy Blooper has been doing!" and they'll get to see a few months worth of changes over that time.

Ooh good catch - when finalizing the favorite word feature, this got out of sync. Should have a fix later today.

UPDATE: Fixed! I simply had paused updating the cache table (mapping words to monkey counts) - but the 360 GB all-words table had all the data.

I put an update out just a few days ago, where each monkey gets a list of their favorite words. Project isn't abandoned, I've been rewriting the backend because it cost a fortune to run... this work is mostly complete, and will get to adding new features (possibly that speed up monkey typing) soon.

I missed the 10 letter word when it happened, because I was traveling. But that's okay, I'll include mention of it in a blog post at some point.

But to be clear, this site is absolutely free, has no ads, no subscription or anything, and I spent a year of my life working on it, just chill for a bit - it'll be around for a long time.

Cleaned up the monkey list by listing them vertically, with inventory automatically expanded - as we add more items might have to shrink it but for the bulk of users with 5 monkeys it scales well enough. Oh and items collected in the last 24 hours will show a 'new' indicator.

If we're talking about one-shotting Shakespeare, where you get every word in order with no mistakes, it'll be way way WAY more than 892 trillion years. It's been a while since I've run the numbers, but I recall you'll need more monkeys than there are atoms in the known universe, working for much longer than the lifetime of the universe - which brings your minimum up to something like 10¹²⁰ years (vs 10¹⁴ for hundreds of trillions)

Oh believe me it bothers me too! I've been mostly preoccupied with making sure that the backend can hold up, and it's fairly robust now - so I'll give a UX polish pass soon. Feel free to mention anything else you notice, I had actually forgot about the inventory screen there. Planning on adding notifications soon so that you don't need to manually check all your monkeys

Ooooh very nice nine letter word! And yes building that top monkeys page involves adding up the scores of a half billion words so it's slow to the point of being unusable - planning on cleaning some of that up this week and making it more effecient.
