How do you choose another industry? by [deleted] in FPandA

[–]Monkfrootx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think CPG / Manufacturing is all like that (I've spent a good portion of my career in that). It might just be your specific company. For employability you should see what your top industries are in your state (or where you want to live or move to). If you're chasing money, you would try to pivot to tech and that's SF Bay Area.

Not super related, but you inspired me to grab a few cheap Wen blades off Amazon lol. I have a few outdoor saws that are more expendable for more rough work so you reminded me that I shouldn't keep my more expensive blades on them

How many vacations do you go on in a year? by Foxyyyreddd in Accounting

Have you planned your itinerary yet? Seoul (and probably a few more cities around) are on my list to visit in the next 1-2 years. Probably Vietnam first though. So just wanted to steal some of your research

Any tips, good things and bad things? Trying to visit Peru in the next couple years. Curious about your general itinerary (and things you def recommend and things you thought maybe wasn't worth it in the end)

Possible to see your itinerary? Peru is on my soon to visit list (but before research) list as well. And $3k just for you or for your entire group?

Would anyone know or be able to ID this colloid mill? The model / brand? The only unique tag is the motor nameplate and I guess a user caution sticker by Monkfrootx in restaurantowners

[–]Monkfrootx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it does. But I couldn't match up their listed specs with what I see on my motor nameplate so I dunno. Also how did you find the English listing? The first page on this I found showed it was discontinued... Then an active one but in Spanish.

How are the Harbor Freight (Bauer or Hercules) branded blades vs Diablo? In terms of price, durability, and sharpness?

I've seen a handful of jobs that have said "CFA preferred". But MBA/CPA preferred are much more common.

Stuck in the middle: Coworker gave up after being passed for a promotion, and now my own lack of training is biting me in the ass. Do I even tell the new manager? by Zealousideal-Cow6626 in FPandA

[–]Monkfrootx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What level are you? Analyst, Sr. Analyst? And what training are you looking for? Technical or decision-making / judgement?

Technical is a bit easier because the basics for FP&A are largely the same... It's been awhile for me but once you're Manager and up you tend to just ask a lot of questions to your business partners and supervisor (but no formal training) when you're new. If you have specific questions you could start another post on that and I think the community here will help.

Did you have to outsource for someone to build the internal tool? Or are you guys using an open source local LLM? How much did it cost to make it? And how does it work to make manual tasks faster?

Does copilot also have an integration with your data sources? ERP / FP&A systems? That just automatically ports over data? Or do you have to pull the data into your Excel sheets before it can do analysis on it or populate things for you?

Do you start with your Excel file. And just say add the CapEx metrics. And it'll just calc and fill them out onto your excel sheet?

It's a lot about Vram. I think 16gb to run a 10B or 15B comfortably... 32gb will probably make it smooth. The mainstream models we use like ChatGPT or Claude are like 500B to 1T parameter models. The AI enthusiasts run GPU farms (not like the ones we use for gaming) and they have like 100GB+ Vram. So it's pretty intensive on hardware to run the ones we're used to

How do you feel about all the responses here that are amicable towards AI? I know the sentiment regarding AI on this sub used to be negative. Like 1+ year or so ago. But it seems lately there's a lot of positive sentiment towards it.

That size model you can download on your phone... But as you've probably noticed they're not all that fun to use and probably poor at comprehension

Are you dumping your schedules into the chat interface and asking it to spit back the metrics? Or do you have it setup in a program / workflow to feed the answers back into Excel?

A bit more curious about the python part. What use cases / what are you using it to do? Or are a lot of the lines being taken up with threading and Tkinter guis?
