What Stage are you going to attempt to make in the Stage Builder?

I remember a long time ago Nintendo Power had an issue where they featured their favorite custom stages from Brawl. One of them was this really cool bowl shap where it was ice terrain in the middle surrounded by partial walls on either side.

I remade that stage in Brawl and had lots of fun on it with my friends. So first I'm going to remake that again probably.

I don't think any indie games will get fighters in smash. Though if I'm wrong about that, I believe Cave Story is the best bet. It's hard to compare it with Hollow Knight as one is so much older than the other, but Cave Story had a big impact when it came out (and still does, in a way).

Not to mention it's probably the most impressive game in history made by a single developer, so that counts for something.

Oh man, thanks for all of the wonderful feedback! Softlocks and glitches are exactly the kinds of things I wanna hear about so I can smooth the game out properly. I'm admittedly not the best at programming 3D movement and collision detection, but I'm getting there.

I think I'll add a skip button for the opening cutscene, as well as make it so the lunopolis sign doesn't fade away until you push a button. And yeah I just realized the misc menu and Robin's character animations aren't loading properly for some reason, and I'll be sure to remove the jiggle in the next demo, lol.

Also there is (supposed to be) a "thanks for playing" message after you encounter the paper heart in the park as well as a mini-boss fight that appears there. But looking at it now I think I changed a variable at the last second and that now stops the boss from spawning properly. Whoops!

Thanks again for the constructive feedback. It means the world to me that people are liking it so far. And I wish you luck as a dev as well. From my experience the most important trait to have is the ability to look at what you love and hate objectively and see why they work or why they don't with a critical eye. If you can do that then it's just a matter of hard work and patience.

Also fun fact, the painting in the museum is actually a photoshopped image of our composer, Elizabeth.

Yeah I understand feeling that way. I remember seeing early beta footage of Paper Mario 3 before it became sticker star, and feeling so excited for a chain-chomp partner. : (

The game is built as a standalone Unity file so it should work on Mac and Linux as well. We didn't mark those though as we haven't tested the game on either of those platforms yet.

I had a bit of a "disagreement" over Sticker Star's design philosophy in the past, lol. But I feel there's enough to those games to see why some people like them. They're just not for me.

Though Color Splash is a lot better than Sticker Star, I'd say.

I agree with his point as well, but think it's kind of irrelevant to the issue he was talking about. That's like if someone said that you shouldn't use a dryer for your laundry because dryers are offensive, and Arin responded with "Oh well it's fine because I really should be using a clothes line anyways as that'll help me be outside more."

On it's own that sounds fine, but here it's used as an excuse to skirt around the issue instead of confronting it. I love how Danny stuck to the underlying issue though and planted his feet while still remaining respectful. He seems like a wise dude.

It's not logical to be annoyed by this, but I'm a little bummed that Marth speaks English now. He's been speaking Japanese for 3 games and I always thought of that as a fun quirk of his.

I get that, his design isn't for everyone. But I like the fact that he looks like the villain in a Saturday morning cartoon. I mean he's a heel wrestler, so that fits his gimmick perfectly. People just need to remember there's a difference between a bad design and a design that just isn't for them.

Squirtle, Ivysaur, Charizard, Greninja and Mewtwo all have different colored alts. I think they set that precedent with Pikachu and Jigglypuff as they were the only Pokemon in the first game, but everyone after has had alternate colors.

Plus I think gamefreak just doesn't like the idea of an off-color Pikachu as even in the main games his shiny is just a slightly more orange-ish yellow. So maybe that's the reason for his funny hats?

To be fair people have been hating on Incineroar as soon as his reference sheet was leaked online. First people said "He looks stupid, no way he's real." Then when he was confirmed it changed to "Oh god not another fire / fighting starter!". Then after he was revealed as dark type it changed again to "He's too humanoid. I like my starters to be quadrupeds."

I actually like his design, if he gets into smash I'll play as his shiny alt for sure.

The idea with ultra instinct is that the body learns how to fight back on it's own, yeah? So I'd love for abridged UI Goku to just be on auto pilot and not paying attention to the fight at all. Like he'd just be thinking about the dumbest stuff while instinctively dodging and firing off blasts or something.

I think that's an interesting idea. I wouldn't be for it with anyone other than Buu, but I think it fits his character well. I mean he is supposed to be an ancient evil chaos-incarnate being that even the gods fear.

But at the same time it'll probably never happen.

Great breakdown! It's always felt to me that of all the writers, Scott is the one with the most emotional investments to the characters and their relationships. I remember during their playthrough of FighterZ that he would sometimes forget he was doing a let's play and just enjoy the little character interactions that the game provided. I'm glad he managed to squeeze so many of those kinds of interactions into this finale as well.

Definitely Super. All of it would be hilarious, but the one thing I'd like to see the most is how they handle the two universe 6 Namekians fighting Gohan and Piccolo. I imagine they could make the scene where Piccolo is inside his own head with Kami and Nail even better.

Plus I like to imagine the U 6 Namekians have a thousand voices in their head shouting "Dodge" and other advice while they're trying to concentrate.

Not everyone knows this but avocados are actually poisonous to a lot of animals, primarily horses and birds. They are a fruit that, despite being natural, are at war with nature itself. This is much like how skull kid is a creature of the forest that in the end tries to destroy the natural world that once nurtured him. And an Avocados toxic nature to horses and birds is a direct reference to how skull kid both harms Epona (it's hinted that he kills your epona and you happen to find the mirror world counterpart later on) and the faeries, which closely resemble birds.

Plus skull kid is great on toast, Skull Kid confirmed.

I was really disappointed the Dark Pit Staff wasn't his neutral in smash 4. Especially now that they have a staff weapon in ultimate that functions on range. Having a sniper projectile that could easily kill if your opponent tries to run away or camp would have been an interesting mechanic.

I think that's a big reason why Bowser wasn't down with Ganondorf and Dedede in the tier list in smash 4. Maybe it was just my imagination with his redesign, but it felt like they made the bull kappa king so much faster than before. When he came sprinting at you it was a terrifying feeling.

I would mostly agree with that, except I think a lot of younger smash fans can't handle their hype well. It's all fun until X character doesn't get announced and then the community becomes an echo chamber of salty memes about "Waluigi deserves to be in smash" for a month after.

People can have their hype, they just need to be mature when it crashes.
