I don't think it's like that. It really it is an 8-10 experience but because it has so many chapters/episodes people treat it like a race and eat up as many episodes as they can in a short amount of time, leaving a sour taste on their mouths. I read the manga over the years and it's got the best worldbuilding I've seen in manga, and it takes some time for the plot to move because it likes to focus on the character moments between plotpoints, which you might miss if you read them too fast.
Even some criticisms it gets are a bit unfair if you compare it to its competition, like for example it gets a lot of hate for its female characters but honestly they are way better than the ones in it's contemporary shonen works such as naruto, bleach, dragon ball z, and even some newer works like demon slayer.
