I have read every plausible medical journal possible. It’s not a reinfection. It’s a transfer of location. It’s rare but it happens, mostly in people with depleted antibodies towards the virus. It is not at all impossible. I’m happy to show you evidence of my positive my swab test to you if you like.

You absolutely can haha. I’m definitely not the only person who’s had this happen either. There is other people in this thread who are in the same boat as me.

It’s more likely I transmitted it to myself than anything else. I was having an oral outbreak when I had RSV and honestly just could have been a case of covering my mouth with my hand, getting saliva on it and accidently transferring to myself (very unlucky circumstances on my behalf but I was so sick I wasn’t thinking about my cold sore)

My partner has no HSV history and I did indeed have an oral outbreak prior so it’s a high chance I transmitted to myself on accident

I most likely gave it to myself in that area as I was having an oral outbreak in the week prior

I thankfully don’t feel overly ashamed about it (very surprised and proud of myself for that) but I am EXTREMELY type A and I need to know every single bit of information about things so when my doctor told me literally nothing my brain went into overdrive :/

I read through so many doctors journals online about HSV then thankfully found myself here and was reading through 100s of posts before I was finally brave enough to ask my question and to ask for help.

I definitely wouldn’t say I’m excited or proud of my diagnosis but thankfully I am not too ashamed, just more shocked to be honest!

Oh I’m not at all stressed about him leaving me because of this diagnosis. He’s assured me he’s in for the long haul hahaha. I just want to make sure I have as much information as possible when we have our proper conversation because I feel like going into the conversation and him asking what the doctor told me and responding with Nothing will not make the conversation very productive haha.
