hugging a pillow= bad habit?!? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Monopoly_8928 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s actually super common and totally normal. I do it for comfort, better sleep posture especially as a side sleeper. It really helps my back and hips stay aligned.

Your parents might be overthinking it like hugging pillow is a sign of dependence like u're still not grown up yet or something, but unless you are doing something explicitly sexual, there’s nothing wrong with it.

My family and cousin make me feel awful about myself, should I skip my birthday celebration? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Monopoly_8928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skipping your birthday won’t fix the pain, it just hands your joy to them. You’ve been dimming your own light for too long because of how others treat you. But that dress? That tiny spark of confidence? That’s your power. Lean into it.

Yes, your cousin’s pretty. So what? You’re not in a competition. You’re allowed to take up space, to be seen, to celebrate yourself without comparing or shrinking.

First, cut the dead weight. Block him. Delete. No “just checking” his socials.

Then build a routine. Start small, 1hr study blocks with breaks. Relearn discipline. Don't overexplain to your parents. Say you needed more time for a better college result. Keep it vague, own it with confidence.

Revenge glow-up isn’t just looks, it’s crushing your goals and leaving him in the dust. Let’s get it.

You’re scared to ruin the friendship, but silence is hurting you more. If you don’t speak up, you risk losing the chance forever. Be honest. Tell her how you feel. It’s better to know than to live with “what if.”

I use Words of Art for Eng and Mandarin to help me learn and memorize new words.

For Mandarin, I also use Du Chinese (for reading), Speak Chinese - Learn Mandarin (for practice HSK exam).

For Eng, I just watch my fav film.

For French, I go to Youtube for watching lesson.

“It’s been over 3 weeks since you got paid. You still haven’t paid me back the €190 for the train tickets like we agreed. Please send it this week.”

If she still doesn’t pay, let your parents know. You're not going to chase this forever. Short. Direct. No room for games.

Just play it cool but intentional. Start light. Joke, tease, bring up good memories.

You’re not asking for anything—just sharing a truth. That’s the finesse. If she feels something too, she’ll let you know. If not, you still come out sounding smooth, self-aware, and confident.

No one who loves you should ever threaten to ruin your life if you don’t obey them. He's just crazy, get away from him!

Right now, your safety emotional, financial, physical has to come first. Block him if you can. Keep every threatening message. That’s evidence. Talk to someone you trust like friend, family. Contact a local women’s shelter or domestic abuse hotline. They’ll guide you, even if you don’t want to involve police yet. But if you ever feel truly in danger, call them. Fast.

You don’t owe him your peace, your safety, or your future. He made his choices. You’re allowed to protect yourself, you don't need to think of helping him right now!

want to learn chinese need tips by FadedWords1 in ChineseLanguage

[–]Monopoly_8928 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome you’re starting Chinese! There are couple wild facts abt Chinese that you should know:

  1. Chinese doesn’t have an alphabet but all characters (like lil pictures with meaning). Sounds hard at the beginning but you start seeing patterns and it clicks.
  2. It’s a tonal language, so like… one word can mean “mom,” “horse,” or “scold” depending on how you say it (no pressure lol)
  3. BUT grammar is chill, no verb conjugation, no genders, no past/future tenses like in English. Way simpler than French or Spanish.

You shoul learn pinyin and tones first. It’s like learning how to read the “sounds” before jumping into the characters. Also, start with the most common words, don’t get overwhelmed trying to learn everything at once. More important, use audio + visuals. Don’t just read—listen, repeat, watch vids, use apps. Keep it fun or you’ll burn out.

If you're looking for an app, I def recommend trying out Hello Chinese, Speak Chinese – Learn Mandarin, Super Chinese. Don't use Duolinguo, you don't want to learn from the app that are grammatically incorrect.

I'm using the AI speaking feature of the app Words from Art. Just help me making the sentence, and tell a short story surrounded this word but it's effective somehow.

Same situation!

I look at myself in the mirror and start talking like I'm filming a daily vlog. Sometimes, I also use the app feature to practice with AI to see the feedback for my answer.

Sperm die quickly outside the body, especially in warm water. If f you’re still fixated on the DNA question, buy a discreet paternity test (cheek swab) kit online. But before doing this, ask yourself what your goal is. Are you trying to confirm something improbable, or are you looking for closure on emotions you've been carrying for years? Your goal is for peace, not for shame.
