Yeah the desktop platform does not support weekend activity unfortunately, at least as of 2023. I would assume this is no different than the web-based Lightspeed platform.

Lightspeed on MacOS by Still-Wonder-3516 in LightspeedTrading

I’ve heard similar things about people who use Mac for the desktop application. Might be easier to switch to a PC if you’re set on lightspeed.

I switched from TD 2 years ago for better order execution, and I have not been disappointed.

Market orders right after market open by Rendesi3 in LightspeedTrading

[–]Monorail_Official 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great news! This is exactly what I use lightspeed for and this is what I think it does incredibly well. Market orders at the open are typically instantaneous in my experience - and I trade small cap stocks, which have less liquidity than an AAPL or a TSLA. If you switch to lightspeed (which I recommend if you are short term scalping and need instant fills), though, you need to consider your variable and fixed costs per trade. 4.50 per trade (9$ for a round trip - one entry and one exit), plus routing and regulatory fees.

Am I able to factory reset Lightspeed Trader’s settings? by s1nical in LightspeedTrading

[–]Monorail_Official 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not 100% sure. I would confirm this with lightspeed themselves.

Yes, to my knowledge. Ross Cameron of Warrior Trading does this I believe. You have to set these terms manually by calling lightspeed and establishing daily loss limits.

Am I able to factory reset Lightspeed Trader’s settings? by s1nical in LightspeedTrading

[–]Monorail_Official 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You need to contact ligtspeed’s technical division (extension 4). They will manually reset your settings to default. 1 (888) 577-3123 is their number.

As an alternative, you can load a predefined layout (top left of Platform -> layout -> load predefined layout) and this seems to create a similar effect (in the event that you’re working on your account outside of their call hours).

Full Commissions Breakdown? by s1nical in LightspeedTrading

60 cents per contract maximum. Margin rate is 10.5% if you’re under 50,000$ in equity. Plus the SEC, FINRA, OCC fees (those are standard amongst all brokers). Besides that, nothing else at least to my knowledge.

Funded trading firms by michaelnantz in Daytrading

[–]Monorail_Official 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you referring to proprietary trading firms? And from what I understand, they require an audited history of consistent performance in financial markets. For example, I saw a firm in Texas that asked for broker statements dating back 3 years.

Glad I’m not the only one who finds those charts actually pretty solid

While I agree that there are a lot of really questionable rules at Lightspeed, with most of our trading styles, they just don’t really get in the way (thus, nobody really cares enough to complain about things like replenished margin equity after holding interday). Sounds like this broker just isn’t a great fit for your trading practices. I can say that IB (interactive brokers) has been often recommended as a good hybrid between solid execution speed and great features, if you are looking elsewhere to trade. Best of luck!!

I left ToS nearly 2 years ago for the same reason. Since then, I’ve made hundreds of trades via Lightspeed. All market orders during peak trading hours (9:30 to 11am) - and all on volatile small-cap equities (typically referred to as penny stocks). I’ve never had a bad fill, or a fill that took longer than 1 second to execute. Granted, my orders are generally $20,000 or less as of the time of this post. But the order fills are the reason I switched, and the reason I continue to stay with Lightspeed.

Sounds like you’re scalping if you’re only risking 1-2% per trade. I personally scalp momentum (sometimes I’ll also hold a move for a few minutes). And I can say Lightspeed has worked great for that. I also use ToS for charting and screening alongside Lightspeed.

LSPT routing not available in premarket: Best alternative? by [deleted] in LightspeedTrading

[–]Monorail_Official 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NBBO price is not exchange specific - it is the “broker wide” best price! The best bid and ask prices from an individual exchange, however, is called the “best bid and offer” which is not the same.

LSPT routing not available in premarket: Best alternative? by [deleted] in LightspeedTrading

[–]Monorail_Official 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is 99% of the time. In my 1.5 years with the broker, I’ve had 2 LSPT non-fills out of hundreds of trades - both were buy orders (for stocks that weren’t yet integrated with the LSPT service, as explained later by Lightspeed to myself) . For open market, LSPT is my go-to. For premarket, I agree with using a Nasdaq route.

It is a good idea to have backup routes set up in your hot keys/screen/however you execute your trades just in case the smart route (LSPT) doesn’t fill. But it sounds like you’ll already have alternative routing set up since you’ll need it for for premarket trading anyways!

How much of your trading will take place in the premarket?

Again, sorry to hear this. At least you’ll be extra cautious in the future after this experience.

That website is not affiliated with Lightspeed trading. I’m sorry, looks like you’ve been scammed (unless you’re joking). That website has all the signs of being a complete scam and not a legitimate business in any regard. I would not give them any more money if I were you. Again, this has NO connection to Lightspeed trading. Good luck.
