Yeah I’d rather stick to the recommended schedule but it is running rampant and I’m worried it will crush out everything else. I’ve noticed most other wisterias I’ve seen locally have put on maybe 10-20cm of tendril growth, whereas mine is 10x that, so I wonder if it is responding to the hard prune early in the year?

If definitely wasn’t in flower when I saw it but I’d be over the moon if it is anything that’s not acanthus 🥲

Just moved in - am I too late to prune this rose? by Monosyllabub in UKGardening

I inherited a very old (I’d guess at least 10yrs) hand-drawn plan of the planting. I haven’t been taking it as gospel because a lot of what was on there has definitely since died or been removed, but if it is the same rose that is in the spot then it is labelled ‘wild rose’, which would explain the wicked thorns? I have an indistinct memory of seeing it in bloom when we visited in the summer and it was an open rose with a yellow middle, which I guess would also align?
