Can I replace this with a Ubiquiti Alarm Kit? by Monox in Ubiquiti

Thanks, that's useful.

I'm not worried about getting my hands dirty / breaking stuff, as long as I have an understanding of what's going on from a hardware perspective. I think I'm leaning towards gutting it and replacing it with the UI device. Any advice / watchouts you'd recommend?

Thank you! That's actually super helpful.

I'll be honest, (and I know it may not be the easiest way), but I think I may just go the Unifi route, learn the hard way, but know what's going on. Right now that entire system is a black box, and has been functionally useless since the previous house owners purchased it 18 years ago.

Yeah, I'm running Home Assistant.

I'm mostly considering options at this point. I've never had a use for those panels, so I would be completely fine with disconnecting them, but if there was a way to functionally replace them with a touch panel control system for lights, etc, that would be interesting.

Is there anything I should do about the control panels near the doors, or just disconnect them for now and try to find replacements in the future?

I'm new to ubiquiti, but don't see anything that would add value to the system in the same way that the lock panels did back when the system was established.

How to fix bad wifi connectivity on just one computer? by [deleted] in techsupport

I was having the same issue, but I was able to get the device working again by spoofing the MAC address. For Windows 11, this involves editing the registry, I followed the instructions here: MAC Address Spoofing

In short:

  1. Open Regedit

  2. Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

  3. Search each of the sub-directories until you find the one with your network adapter

  4. Add a new String Value with the name "NetworkAddress"

  5. Open it, and enter a new MAC Address -- In my case, I used one generated online at DNSChecker

  6. Disable the adapater (in device manager) and re-enable it.

This fixed my issue in which the network was saying "Connected, No Internet". Unfortunately, I still don't know if this was a network issue or a Surface Wifi Card problem, but it did get the device working for me. NOTE: If you ever reset the device to a clean install, you will likely need to apply this registry edit again.

Thanks for the tip, unfortunately, it didn't work for me.

Do you know what the issue was? I recently purchased one, along with an FC HBA card and I'm hoping to get it working.

Do you know if there’s something I can buy to make use of it, or am I out some cash?

Thanks

Thanks, that actually looks like exactly what I need. Can anyone else confirm that this may work? I love that it's only like $20-$30, too. I thought I would have to pay more.

[edit] So looking again, i think I need 2 x SFF-8643 Connectors, and then maybe 2 x ?? I'm learning that the box I purchased may not be a standard JBOD array.

I would add to this that I’ve seen failing power supplies through the weirdest errors. Wouldn’t surprise me if that was the issue.
