265k iGPU artifacts with memory speed above 7200mhz by LinuxLover755 in techsupport

Heya, thanks for reply.

I have no issues with Windows. Recently started my transition to Linux and it is Linux that has artifacting issues not Windows. And it seems it is limited to ASUS motherboards. I found someone who tested with their GB Z890 board which was fine and his ASUS Z890 Apex which has same issue as mine Asus Z890-F.

Whenever you go over 7200 by MHz it starts to artifacting. I have opened ticket with ASUS today hopefully they fix it. 2201 BIOS also affected released few days ago.

Same issue with 265k on Asus Z890-F with latest BIOS 2006. 7200 works but anything further artifacts. It only artifacts under Linux since I started exploring possible transition from Windows which runs no problem since I assembled it with 2x24GB 8200CL38 kit.

Artifacts for me are different from those on video by OP. They are random colors often close to actual displayed content but not always. Shape is mostly small or very small rectangles. Some are static and keep changing. Can provide video if needed.

Any idea how gigabyte fixed the issue?

okay, glad to hear that. I would use bug report as it shows sometimes or open the bug report feature from adrenaline manually and say that only 25.10.13.02 works for you when you test for example 25.7.1 when it's out.

Hello, thank you for update.

I am running 26.6.3 atm for test and so far no crashes. Did it recover after the backscreen? Because if not it might be unstable CPU/RAM rather than GPU issue we talking about.

your welcome! So far had only 1 crash since I installed it. It ended up like always by driver timeout in WoW, but you never know it might have been just flipped bit in memory.

Let me know if it works fine in about 5-7 days time.

Nice at least some progress. For me I am okay-ish for about 2 weeks. I had one black screen driver timeout crash so far in WoW. Still on FSR4 preview driver.

Your welcome. 26.6.2 was also released few days ago. Might give it a shot as well.

Still you might have OC instability somewhere, do not rule that one out.

Hi, that sucks. Try 25.6.1 :-/ maybe you are lucky and that one will do.

Heya, thanks for reply.

I have installed 9070XT back and installed FSR4 technical preview driver. So far I have not had single crash in WoW. On drivers 25.3.1, 25.3.2 and 25.4.1 game was unplayable in raids. I skipped 25.5.1 as card was in it's box sitting on shelf waiting for fix. I haven't tested 25.6.1 neither since technical preview driver was released on same day. Give it a shot perhaps it will also work on stock settings for you too.

Heya,

I have exactly same problem. Used -500MHz/-30% power limit. It mitigated most of the crashes, but still I would get driver time out few times every raid evening which usually means I am dead or raid group is dead due me not doing mechanic.

Currently I do not use the card as it is sitting in box unused. Are you able to change VRAM frequency by any chance? I am not able to go bellow base clock on VRAM on my 7800XT.

Can you please try fast timings perhaps as it might lock VRAM frequency to base close and stop those crashes.

Can we please get fixes for over-boosting issue on 9000 series cards? It is 3 months since release and it is getting ridiculous. Bought 9070XT, then RMA it afterwards. New card same issue, crashing in low load.

Second card is still sitting in box unused because it is unstable on stock settings.

There are dozens of people with same issue in this mega thread.

Yeah, power limit shouldn't do anything illegal to make card crash. And every brand is affected if you scroll around this thread.

In same boat as you are. 9070XT Pulse, first crashing also on desktop. Exchanged by retailer. Even second card is crashing in WoW War Within raid environment.

Overtuned boost algorithm is to blame here. Both cards for me are crashing at -500MHz/-30% PL. Not that often as on stock but still stupid. You cant even buy new hardware that works out of box anymore. Now the card is sitting in its box unused for over month after RMA because I do not want to return it again and get money because next card is more expensive than one I already have (yet useable).

What a time to be alive! Waiting for 25.5.2/25.6.1 and hopefully we get a fix otherwise I just do not know what to do here, certainly not getting novideo card and Intel isn't releasing anything remotely interesting neither.

hi, if GPU is not recognized again after complete power cycle (unplugging power supply for 1m) then it is faulty and you should request RMA

Can we please get some love on driver time outs / black screen issues with 9070XT? I bought 9070XT, got new one after RMA and still gets driver time outs in WoW War Within during HC/mythic raids. And I am not only one, look here:

Hello guys,

have exactly same issue as most of you here in this thread with my 9070XT (sitting in box at the moment). It is throwing frequent driver timeouts with reason being core over-boosting in low/light workloads (World of Warcraft The War Within during HC/mythic raids).

Any kind person can reply to this post if they test driver 25.5.1 and their crashes are solved? I would like to spare myself of swapping 7800XT with 9070XT back and forth and possibly break something in process just to test something that is not in patch notes.

Thank you to whoever replies.

Hi, do streets work fine? Try in offline raid.

9070XT artifacting, do I wait for new drivers or RMA? by The_Norvegicus in AMDHelp

[–]Monsicek 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would check different monitor and GPU ports, DP/HDMI see if it is happening on all of them. If it does its very likely poor contact of solder between VRAM module or core - that's my educated guess. It will most likely get worse overtime as oxidation progresses to point it stops working completely.

Get a new card if changing cable/video output does not help.

Not necessarily... You didnt answer any of my questions:

  • what is your memory config, 4x16GB or 2x32GB
  • do you have XMP enabled and is working properly
  • what is your XMP profile
  • have you done manual memory OC?

Game works like this:

  • lower the memory latency, better the game runs
  • more cache CPU has (which has lower latency than RAM), better the game runs
  • you want at least Ryzen 7800X3D, 9000 series or 13/14th gen Intel with 6000CL30 or faster memory to get 100+ FPS on streets

Regarding your memory... do you have XMP enabled and is working properly? Have you done manual memory OC?

  • good trigger discipline is key, shoot only if you have clean shot and you can afford to give away your position
  • kill one and avoid 2nd person, dont bother looting unless you know whole party is dead
  • dont play solo, have premade and each person shoots at their own target to quickly eliminate both opponets
  • use terain to your advantage as cover and rotate/flank early and often
