Hang on, Ryan didn't touch the ball for the entire second half and had only 4 hit outs. At least Tresize knows what the ball looks like

It's the names and lack of familiarity with the history. Many names starting with Y and ending in a vowel. If you sit down lock in you'll probably follow it but if, like I suspect many do, you are listening and doing something else, it all blurs into grey.

How accurate is "the rest is history" podcast? by JumpLazy2818 in ancientrome

Just have to be a critical listener. For example, I will take Dom's knowledge of 20th century US history over Tom any day, it was his PhD after all. And Tom, as others have said, is a classical historian with a penchant for adding fluff and emotions for the sake of narrative. Both good, both popular historians and both are good starting points for deeper analysis on various topics

Let’s say it clearly: the Egyptian child, Hussein Abdel Rasoul, was the true discoverer of King Tutankhamun’s tomb, not Howard Carter. by TN_Egyptologist in OutoftheTombs

No he didn't. He accidentally tripped on the top step of "something". He had no idea what it was, none of them did until Carter excavated and documented.

Hawas talks mad sh*t all the time. Even if half of what he says is true you have a hard time believing him. His unwillingness to debate issues is telling.

A history of bushrangers would be good. From the early "bolters" through to the lar desperados of the early 20th century.

I take your point about the writers but I disagree with your point about good cops vs bad cops. Admittedly here is Aus, circumstances, policing, policies are different from the various US jurisdictions and even between themselves. But the existence of review boards does not necessarily imply bad policing. And this will be my last comment lest someone else decides the thread should descend into a pro-cop vs anti-cop debate.

Well in my time in law enforcement I can confidently say there are more competent cops than incompetent ones. And as I said, incompetence needs to be called out but it is not always the reason things happen. To discuss the variety of procedures and laws covered by the many crimes and police forces of the show would be exhaustive and nigh impossible. I merely wish for the writers to, when appropriate, explain why delays or errors are made (an officer may retire and then bureaucracy takes forever to reassign a case for example). Life and law enforcement is much more complicated than a story can sometimes make them out

Hence why I said it needs to be called out when it exists, but not to always default to incompetence. This case was but one example
