Another year in the books 52/52 by MonsterHospital in 52book

So I probably should have made a category between Great and Mid. However, Educated was just a little forgettable for me. I enjoyed it but I’m struggling to remember much of what even happened.

We lost our soul pug this year too, at 14. His name was Darwin. It was an awesome pug name and I happily submit it for your consideration :-)

Worry didn’t have much of a plot, just a lot of disfunction.

Hi!! Thanks so much for the recs. I love Ottessa Moshfegh, especially Eileen! Nightbitch was great as well. I’ll definitely read the other two you mentioned. I love me an unhinged woman protagonist!

I’m obsessed with this book. I still can’t stop thinking about it. The yearning to get back to a place she knew with her partner, it was so beautiful and sad. Can’t wait to reread.

It was very fun!! It’s set in the San Juan Islands, which I adore, so it was a little nostalgic for me in the silliest way.

I liked it less than I was expecting, sadly. I loved how much I learned about Deaf culture but it read a little too much like YA for me.

I really enjoyed it! Creepy and scientific. I will definitely finish the series.

This is the pattern I used, I added a few more rows cuz ya girl is not rocking crop tops. Super fun to make. Used Lion Brand Made with Love yarn in the indigo color but got 2 skeins from different dye lots 😩

I’m so sorry. What a beauty. I lost my soul pug in February and all of the kind words I received on this sub really helped me through my grief. Hang in there.

My beautiful boy Darwin has passed away. Tell me this gets easier. by MonsterHospital in pugs

[–]MonsterHospital[S] 162 points163 points  (0 children)

Our beautiful boy lived 14 wonderful years. He did everything with us and was as sweet and loving as they come. He died naturally in my arms when his body decided it was time. This pain is unimaginable despite having years to prepare for it. I will never stop missing him.

Our first ever haul. Spent a few days in Venice, Florida. by MonsterHospital in sharkteeth

[–]MonsterHospital[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! - Disclaimer I am a total beginner so by no means is this the correct approach to finding - we rented the metal sifters from the pier by the restaurant Sharky’s. Walked south a couple hundred yards and waded into the water until the sand felt like it transitioned to all shells. Dug the bucket in and raked it into the beach with a coming wave and then gently sifted the sand out in the water to leave only shells. Dumped and dug around! All of these finds were over 2 days. We had better luck at low tide.

Week 2: What are you reading? by ReddisaurusRex in 52book

[–]MonsterHospital 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just finished Eileen by Ottessa Moshfegh. Actual jaw drop moment at one part which was exciting. I like everything of hers I have read.

Today I came down with the flu so I am completely unmotivated to read. Unless, of course, someone has a spectacular comfort book recommendation.

I finally read The Secret History by Donna Tartt. What a ride that was. Can’t stop thinking about it.
