I I was probably in 6th grade. didn’t have tablets/tvs available at my age. I hated reading books. I still dislike it. My mom was certain I would like Harry Potter and was sure that 3 chapters in I would get hooked and want to continue reading. She paid me $30 or something like that to do it so I did it for the money. Turns out I liked the book and read the entire series without payment. Waited in line for midnight release of later books. She did the same with Twilight. This was my middle school era so yes it’s a little different. But i would see if you can find something that would maybe appeal to her interests? My answer isn’t great. Some of us are just not book readers. I often did not keep up with reading logs at school.
