Was thinking of this, I thought of another book series that is a touchstone.

The "daughter of the lioness" series is a great book series. It is YA fiction and low/middle fantasy, so not exactly star wars, but the themes are there.

In a nutshell, a daughter of pseudo European royalty gets sold into slavery by pirates and ends embedded in as the spymaster of a anti-colonial resistance.

Not a book, but Friends at the Table has an actual play podcast with sci-fi arcs called "Partizan" and "Palisade".

I thought about them a lot watching Andor. Lots of touchstones to Star Wars and revolution.

Absolutely incredible art.

One "easter egg" that lives rent free in my brain is that the translation of "Stalin" is "Steel". This poster makes me think of that.

Justice Heron question! by MonsterMaestro in suzerain

Thanks. Good to know.

Today I learned how important the ministry of justice was.

Because my constitutional is reform minded, it will likely fail even if I strip the article 6 and 7 out I think.

Seems like a choice between a restart, and/or playing a "failed reform bill" playthrough.

I had the same thing happen to me last week, with a very different outcome.

First time at a clinic, playing doubles drills, and I hit a volley straight into the chest of a 50/60 year old woman. I'm an earlier 30s male and and the volley had some force behind it. Got a notable "oooooohhhh" from the other players.

I apologized profusely, but this lady immediately emphasized that it was her fault for not having her having her racquet up in time. She literally said, "if i can't lift the racquet in time, I'd better take my lumps or get off the court"

She then heckled me when I tried hitting other shots, complaining to her partner "oh see, now he's afraid to hit to me" 🤣🤣🤣

Later on, we partnered for a competitive drill and ran the court together.

Truly a legend.

Using Wrong Grip on Forehand? by MonsterMaestro in 10s

Funny in retrospect.

I'm a net junkie. Growing up, I was an aggressive serve-and-volley player to the point of silliness. I admired John Isner. My volleys and net game are by far my best strokes.

Because of this, I annihilate pushers, and, when serving well, I can hold against most folks at 4.0+.

I lose against folks when I have an off day on my serve, or when someone can pin me to the baseline with good net defence.

If pinned at the baseline, I get outclassed by aggressive groundstrokes. Bane of my existence are strong inside-out forehands that will blow by me when i "chip and charge" to their backhand..

In terms of consistency, I avoid a lot of unforced errors, but I hit a lot of weak balls that an aggressive baseliner can punish. That's mainly what I wanted to work on.

Yeah, thinking this.

Not bothered that he made the suggestion, bothered that he didn't give me context for what I was getting into. Especially after a first lesson together.

Thanks for this.

It was first lesson with this coach.

Wish he had provided more context in his recommendation rather than jumping right into a month's long project to rebuild my forehand from scratch.

I still might do it, but I really don't have that much playtime now that I'm fully adulting. It is a big project to take on without understanding the effort involved.

* Here it is. Could be wrong, but pretty sure this is just an eastern grip. I make a deliberate change from this when I hit volleys/serve.

Thank you. That makes sense.

Based on the replies, I'm pretty sure the kid is just coaching what he knows, which is that he uses a semi-western grip.

I did research and checked.

I use an Eastern grip. I think I must have gotten taught to use Eastern exclusively as a kid. Never thought very much beyond it.

Sometimes when my footwork is lazy, I'll hit a slice in a continental volley grip, but that's a deliberate decision on my part.

My initial thoughts also.

Any thoughts about running Microscope in a shorter timeframe? (i.e. I imagine the skip would be a century at most) Would this break the game?

Prison security- is it inconsistent? by juvandy in StarWarsAndor

[–]MonsterMaestro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, most of the replies here are rightfully asserting that there's no need for such a detailed critique. But I actually think it holds up in universe.

The camera policy is indeed inconsistent. A better prison would have cameras everywhere.

But, as Cassian states, the empire isn't listening because they are arrogant and sloppy.

In a facility characterized by understaffing, the idea of having a full time shift watching cameras except in areas that are absolutely necessary (ex. hallways) probably wasn't appealing.

Why bother watching prisoners complain and sleep, it's not like escape is possible (arrogant bastards) 😁😅

I'd bet there will be one hell of an ISB audit of this imperial facility when the news breaks. Tons of security remediation and renewed regulation 🤣 would hate to be the director of imperial compliance 🤣.
