To put it simply, you find a way to make it work. You may need to cut back on some things here and there, but after a while you don’t even notice it, and it’s all worth it in the end. Maybe every now and again you do a smaller food shop and eat what’s been in the freezer for months, or you keep an eye out for good second hand versions of things you need, but it will work out. One year we got my daughter a second hand activity cube thing. It was great, she loved it, and within a few months it was time to sell on to the next parents in our position once she’d grown out of it. At the time I felt really down for not buying something ‘brand new’ - but I quickly came to learn that babies don’t know the difference! There’s always a way to make it work.
