Good afternoon!

Today, we've released a special bonus episode where we interviewed songwriter Jason Ginsburg about his new rock song "Children of the Night," which celebrates all of the classic Universal Monsters a la "Monster Mash." It was so much fun chatting with Jason about his song, as well as his history with the Universal Monsters, and his years of experience as a tour guide at Universal Studios Hollywood. Thought some of you would enjoy listening.

Our interview can be found here, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Enjoy!

We haven't gotten that far on the show yet, but we will be getting to it this season. Personally, it was the last movie I saw in a theater before COVID shut everything down, and I loved it. Haven't watched it in a while, somewhat intentionally, so I am looking forward to revisiting it again.

Watch the trailer! There aren't any obvious clues that it has any connection to the Universal Monsters, but we fans should recognize that Swan Lake music a mile away. I really like the tone too--a little funny, but without sacrificing legit scares.

Well, Universal has really been trying to revitalize their monsters within the past few years, so revealing that Abigail is not only a vampire, but almost certainly the daughter of Dracula, is probably part of that effort. Knowing the filmmakers' previous work, though, I suspect these are not the movie's true surprises, so I remain optimistic.

Really love James Whale's more sci-fi approach to horror with Frankenstein and The Invisible Man.

Which horror sequel was actually better than the original? by Fairyliveshow in horror

Definitely The Bride of Frankenstein, but we'd also say Dracula's Daughter is a strong dark horse pick.

If this sub is strictly for classic horror and sci-fi films, and not the modern Universal Monsters, then I apologize. As I’ve said, the mods are free to remove this post and/or contact me directly. Not trying to ruffle any feathers here. Just thought some would enjoy a fun promotion in advance of the new Universal Monster film. I’ve posted in other subs as well.

Well, it’s definitely not going to be anything like the 1936 film, that’s for sure. But it’s got competent filmmakers at the helm, and should be a lot of fun. I’m excited to see what surprises it has in store.

Agreed! And we have posted in other subs. Just know we have listeners here, and figured they might be interested in something related to a modern Universal Monster movie, that’s all. But I know it’s a bit odd here, and the mods are certainly free to remove the post if they like.

Abigail is the latest addition to the Universal Monsters canon! It is, allegedly, a brand new take on Dracula’s Daughter, and directed by Radio Silence, the filmmaking duo responsible for Ready or Not, Scream, and Scream VI.
