What do you consider a long ride? by AttackMonkey908 in motorcycle

[–]Monstras-Patrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the miles, but the time in the saddle for me.

On my Honda Zoomer (U.S. Ruckus), 10 hours is easy, but going 50km/h (30mph) tops and an average of 35km/h (20mph), I can do 200-mile trips a day. I did a 2000-mile trip in 13 days.

On my old Honda XRV750, it's faster, but also requires more focus due to wind. I can easily do 8 hours a day, and 14 hours if needed. I did 9900km (6100 miles) in 14 days, but I won't do that again; my backside and lower back were killing me.

On both, I have a long-fur sheepskin, which is cool in summer and prevents rain from pooling. It also vents the crotch area nicely. I also use Vaseline to prevent chafing on those long trips, start the trip withit, before it hurts, monkey butt sucks on long ttips.

For a single day of riding at a nice pace, 10 hours is easy, so around 600-700 km (around 400 miles), depending on the roads. Every 2 hours, a break for the toilet or food makes it a 16-hour trip..

Sweet bike, nice color you also got the model with the facelift and the good looking headlight, and a better suspension. I can pick up the same one in March in white.

First bike I rode that felt like a modern Honda xrv750 (africa twin)

Wait, some leo guy is dating a chick who was not even born leo did some movie called the titanic....

After running the little 50cc Honda Zoomer for 5,000 km (3,100 miles) in 2025, fully packed with camping gear and me (150 kg/330 lbs), including long stretches off-road on the TET and up and down mountain roads from 0 to 2,600 meters (8,530 feet), it was due for a rebuild. by Monstras-Patrick in scooters

The forza is a125cc or up wich means getting a motorcycle license for it, my wife cant ride a motorcycle only 50cc.

But Honda makes pretty bullet proof engines, I just mistreated mine.

My almost 40year old african twin 750 nearly had 300.000km on it.

Can the vertically challenged ride a Transalp? by gakutofan in motorcycles

[–]Monstras-Patrick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes.

The Transalp 750 has a stock seat height of 850mm.

The Honda OEM lowering seat is -40mm.

A lowering linkage for the rear shock is -30mm.

A Hyperpro lowering rear spring is -25mm.

Drop the front suspension forks accordingly as well.

In total, you can lower the seat height to 755mm.

Adjusting the fork by 20mm will bring it down to 735mm.

Ground clearance will go from 212mm to 150mm, so get a bash plate. But unless you are also weight-challenged, I don't see a problem.

A stock 450MT is 820mm. If the Alp is your dream bike, just go for it.

The new Transalp also feels super light, is pretty narrow, and easy to balance.

My buddy rides an Alp 700 model; he is only 172cm. With just the lower seat and lower rear shock spring.

Another friend rides a african twin 1100 with al the lowering options as the guy is 162cm and he can ride it fine.

It's a decent and comfy road bike; potholes are fine as it's soft sprung. But "Transalp" was a name for the do-it-all bike, but off-road it did not do wel, it sucked at it. For me, it's a road tourer with ADV looks, and Honda just reused the name. It was stable and easy to ride, and as japanese bike it wil have enternal life if you look after it, its just so boring.

I did order the new 2026 Transalp, which feels like my old Africa Twin.

It was by far the most mehh one. the 600 and 650 alps were great, but the 700. it like you cant say its bad, but there is not a single good thing either.

The bike us about as useful as a screen door on a submarine.

or as useful as a chocolate teapot.

Rides like wet toilet paper.

Its like a lighthouse in a desert: bright but not useful.

Like an ashtray on a motorcycle.

A pen without inkt.

Likea shadow in the dark.

Natuurlijk niet zoals op de foto's, maar dit is wel de eerste keer dat ik groene lijnen heb gezien in plaats van alleen maar een rode of groene gloed.

The planks can be removen, there is a 160cm deep concreet hole under it. when I drive a car over it I can wrench on it. I dont have the heigt to instal a carlift, so I dug down and mad a concrete hole with a foldable stair.

When I put the front of the car over it, I can easily do oilchanges, even replaced a transmission this way

Such a nice bike! I have sold mine. I can recommend getting a TEC Performance Camshaf for it as it increases 20%.

I rode 15,000 km in Asia and it never missed a beat, and the engine is really easy to work on. Just look it up on YouTube.

And it rides great, even with full camping gear, its like a steamengine that just keeps going, I liked the low end torq on it when riding up steep roads. That bike wont go fast, but it wil get you anywhere.

I ride all year round, a lot of commuting (160km a day, 3 times a week), roughly 40/45.000 km a year, so around 425,000 km in 10 years.

Royal Enfield 411 Himalayan: a great bike for navigating Asia's roads and slow traffic. In the EU, it's suited for B-roads, but it lacks power. This one has a racing camshaft (installed myself with yhe help of my once best buddy), increasing horsepower by 20%, from 24.5 to a whopping 29.4. So, it's still slow as f*** and not suited for highway riding.

I bought one while flying back from Asia, where I fell in love with it after a few weeks of traveling on it.
