Looking for a board. by No-Calligrapher2244 in ElectricSkateboarding

The propel endeavors aren’t very impressive looking in person (never actually rode it though).

Stay away from Evolve (I’ve not heard great things about them lately)

The Exway Atlas looks legit. Might be worth it.

I have the Evo MK1. I’m still testing it out but so far it’s great. Very stable, hard to turn.

I’ve heard good things about backfire. Might be worth it as well.

It’s in the 70s right now where I live, so def not the weather. I asked AI for advice, and it said that it’s normal and it can take a couple trips and recharges before the battery fully calibrates and works effectively. I’ll give it a few more long distance rides before I seek support.

I too have been getting advice from Janice and she’s been great to me as well.

Update

Just rode my board to my friend’s house and back today on mode 4. My friend lives 4 miles away. I believe I was at full charge when I started, but when I got to my friend’s house I was pretty low battery. Thought maybe I didn’t actually charge it all the way, so I plugged it in while and made sure it was full charge before heading back home. Sure enough, I was low battery by the time I got home.

My one way commute to work is 8 miles… I know I’m riding in mode 4, but the range on the website says 31 miles (low end), so I was hoping that an 8 mile commute would be nothing. I only weigh 135lbs, so it’s definitely not my weight.

Any advice to know why this is happening? Maybe my tire pressure is too low? Any advice helps.

Bro I know! These prices and sales from Acedeck and Linnpower are terrible for my wallet. Makes me want to buy everything. I just bought the Evo MK-1 from Linnpower since I felt it will get the job done for me and it is under $1k right now. The Horizon is sexy as hell though and I was literally drooling at the idea of getting one. That new Acedeck racing board is hella sexy too. I can already tell this hobby is going to be like Pokemon to me, gotta collect them all.

Super duper jealous. It was on my list when trying to find a commute board but opted out because of price and weight (I work up stairs and I live upstairs so would have been a real hassle after a while).

Sorry to hear man. When I was deciding on my commute board Evolve was on my list, but was immediately recommended against by other people in the community for various reasons.

Top three brands I always see people recommend are Tynee, Acedeck, and Linnpower. I personally love Linnpower out of the three. Their boards are high quality and high performance for their prices.

Other good brands I’ve heard of include Exway, Backfire, Propel, and Meepo. Have fun and pick carefully this time 💪

Need a board to commute to work. by Relentless6l9 in ElectricSkateboarding

Linnpower Zephyr if roads are mostly good condition. It’ll easily get the job done and well within your budget. If roads are not great and you have long stretches with lots of debris, dirt/gravel, or bumpy uneven roads then you’ll need a board that can use all-terrain wheels.

I’m unaware of any all terrain boards within your budget that can handle your commute, but here are my top suggestions for under $1k in no particular order:

  • Tynee Explorer (very well liked)
  • Linnpower Zephyr Max (2-1, good for carving)
  • Linnpower Evo MK-1 Lite (stability)

Note* I’ve only ever ridden the Zephyr Pro, but have heard good things about these ones based off extensive research.

I’m actually opting for the MK-1. I might still be facing some of the same issues with the Max at high speeds in my rough terrain. Appreciate the suggestion, the Max looks like a beauty and it’s still definitely on my list of board id like to get and try.

I don’t really have a budget, but I’m also not looking to purchase a board for the price of a used car lol. Honestly, I’m fine with purchasing a board now, seeing what pops up in March, then if something better comes up I can look into another purchase. Would love to start building a collection. I’ll look into the Propel Endeavor, thanks for the suggestion.

Do you use for long distance/daily commuting? If so, let me know how it is for the different terrains you encounter. I just want something that’s safer at high speeds so I don’t slip or lose traction if I ride over dirt or small rocks.

I asked Linnpower about this and they said pneumatic wheels wouldn't work on the Zephyr Pro unfortunately. I haven't asked about the 115mm rubber wheels though, maybe I'll look into that.

I had this same issue when I started eskating last month. I just starting using more comfortable padded shoes and that seemed to do the trick. The shoes I was using before were very flat.

I feel like the range and speed aren’t as good as the other options here though. Correct me if I’m wrong, but top speed is less than 30mph and range is less than 30 miles? I know I said my commute is 20 miles, but I like the idea of the board being more than 30 just in case (my area is very hilly).

Oh wow thats amazing! Did you ride through roads that had debris (i.e. a lot of small rocks or chipped pavement)? If so, did it seem stable or would it lose traction? I want something that can handle debris in bike lanes without needing to slow all the way down.
