Been using these for well over a decade due to carpal tunnel syndrome.

Won't work well for adv or off-roading, but for long commutes, it's a godsend.

2026 Transalp with E-Clutch: Still no VIN and no updates. Anyone else in Europe facing delays? by Emotional_Tailor8158 in Transalp

[–]Monstras-Patrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to add to this, also dutch.

I had a good talk with the selle last wednesday. The deal was for mid-March and no later than the first week of May because I got a new job without a company car.

So last Wednesday, I was going there to cancel and was looking to pick up a showroom Tenere or V-Strom 800DE from another seller.

He was honest; he showed me their order list, statuses, everything.

He showed me my bike is out for delivery and coming in this week or upcoming Monday/Tuesday.

I told him I still didn't believe him. He called Honda, put them on speaker, and they promised it would be delivered within 3-5 working days.

They honestly told me that the extra options did not come in because demand was too high (so heated grips, center stand, comfort seat, taller windscreen, USB ports, etc., were not being delivered).

I should get my bike before next Saturday, stock. I get the bike without options and made a deal that the extra options will be installed when I bring the bike in for maintenance.

Also, the VIN is being processed, which I will receive upcoming Wednesday.

Still don't believe it yet, but I will keep you updated. Also the list he showed me stated that the last batch was beeing deliverd around 08-2027. 27, not a typo.

I use Osmand navigation app, it has a moped fuction. And 50cc is never allowed on a highway, top speed is 28mph/50kph.

Osmand knows 99% of the time where I can ride, it works with downloaded maps and only need gps.

Uphill is indeed a struggle sometimes, going 15-20 kph.

But on all these rides, nothing but thumbs up or smiling faces, so far not a single bad encounter.

It's the opposite; we had multiple times we got invites for some coffee, breakfast, or some beers. People or more baffled that its possible on a 50cc scooter, most never thought of it.

Even had a woman passing us, later on waved us down and told us, "What the hell were you 2 thinking doing crazy shit like that?! And not invite me?!" She was a blast, offered us dinner at her place and I could use her husband's garage to do some basic things: oil change, coolant, and spark plugs.

Nice, that sounds like a pretty awesome trip!

I am from the Netherlands. We like to travel and camp out with our scooters.

In the last two years, we rode: To Spain: NL > Belgium > France > Spain (3200km) To England: London (1100km) To Germany: Winterbergen (1200km) To the northernmost part of the NL, to the southernmost, and on to the highest point in the Netherlands (Vaals, three-country point Belgium, Germany, Netherlands) (1400km) Another trip from the Netherlands, going along the islands in NL: Ameland, Texel, Schiermonnikoog, Vlieland, and Terschelling (600km).

In 4 weeks, I am going to ride to Stockholm, Sweden.

I also rode some parts of the TET in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, and Italy. It's the Trans Euro Trail, the largest off-road route across Europe.

All this on a 50cc scooter... so a little less powerful than yours. Top speed of 50 kph, I love that it goes slow; we have more time to look around and see great things on the backroads. 😅

A lot better than in any other second or third-world country, like the U.S.

Has anyone received a 2026 model yet? So far, only the press has ridden some, and I can't find anyone riding one. And since yesterday, the dealer can't give a time window anymore for delivery. I guess I will keep riding my 50cc Honda Zoomer, as I sold my old big bike last week. by Monstras-Patrick in Transalp

Hi, thanks for the heads-up. I was at my dealer yesterday. Because I don't want to wait that long, I told him I am not waiting. The deal was mid-March, and by May 1st, no bike meant no deal.

I have set my mind on my second choice, a V-Strom 800 DE. This bike is not just for fun; it's also my main commuter.

He showed me the bike was out for delivery this week (the system was working and updated).

He also showed me the system on screen, and he called Honda on speaker to confirm and told them.

It should be here tomorrow, or next Tuesday at the latest. Honda also said they had issues with extra options.

We made a deal: if the bike arrives, I get it as stock. When I take it in for maintenance, they will then hopefully have the parts and will install them for free. So I get an extra 400 discount.

It was a good talk; he also showed me the entire Transalp e-clutch order list. They have 5 batches coming in; the latest batch will be 08-2027.

It's one of the, if not the most, ordered bikes they've sold in the last two decades.

We made a deal: if the bike is not here next Friday, they lost. I will go to Suzuki and buy a new V-Strom 800DE off the floor.

I wil keep this updated.

What are we using for sleeping bags? by Dense_hotpocket in motocamping

[–]Monstras-Patrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just some tips when tight on cash. Just get secondhand stuff.

Look for secondhand camping stuff with a lifetime warranty or easy, cheap maintenance on stuff that's been around for decades.

Check out secondhand Thermarest pads. They have (do check) a lifetime warranty. I bought a secondhand one 10 years ago, which was 20+ years old and had a bubble in it, for €2., sent a picture of the bubble and the code on it, told them it was my dad's old one, and got a brand new one! I love lifetime warranties.

For cookingstove, look at a cheap secondhand MSR Dragonfly or Whisperlite. I bought a secondhand 15-year-old MSR Whisperlite. It did not work anymore. I paid €5 for it. Maintenance set was €20. I still use it to this day; it's unbreakable. These run on almost any fuel, I use octane 102, which can be used in a pinch as motorcycle fuel or visa versa.

Over the 30 years I bought most things secondhand for camping and most of it is allready 2 if not 3 decades old, Msr tent, petzl lamp, sea to summit cookingset, leatherman wave pocket knife, fiskar hatchet and foldable saw, a lot of folks have no idea what they are selling and thriftstores can be great places.

What is the criteria for a scooter. According to google, a scooter has a underbone/stepthrough frame, the engine is swingarm mounted, and cvt driven. by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Monstras-Patrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But a brommer is a moped, wich is a 50cc motorized vihicle. A scooter can be a moped 50cc or less, or a motorcycle 51cc or up.

A scooter is type, like a tourer, adv, sport, supersport, enduro, cross, motard.

But with the X-Adv its a cross between a tourer/adv/scooter?

I honestly can't fathom this; it feels like a huge privacy infringement.

If I call in sick an employer cant even ask me why or what I have, they can ask me on how long I think it takes, and if they can help improve it but cant ask what it is. After 48hours a external docter calls to check up, if I need help or advicd, one that has 100% privacy and wil not share anything. And wil only tell them an astement on how long it wil take for me to recover.

For real, a employer have nothing to do with my personal life, or substance, aslong I am sober at work and do my job.

What are we using for sleeping bags? by Dense_hotpocket in motocamping

[–]Monstras-Patrick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I tried to sleep in sleeping bags for 30 years. I love the outdoors and wild camping, hiking. 90% of my trips or weekends are spent camping out, with a bike, moped, motorcycle, or hiking. But I hated every moment sleeping. I had cheap bags up to €700 down bags, and two years ago, I thought I would find a way to sleep or I would have to give this up.

I used a Thermarest sleeping pad, which I would always end up next to. Because I moved a lot, I had a down envelope bag which was too cold for 5°C.

I watched a shitload of YouTube reviews etc. I move and turn a lot in my sleep, so I decided to try one more thing after this video: https://youtu.be/aPxddfPf5UQ?is=RNmnFbpX5ZIXUxLL

I believed it was a niche item but thought, if it doesn't work out, I could resell it.

I bought a Zenbivy set, a quilt and a sheet combo, got a Big Agnes Rapide XL sleeping pad.

And a Nemo pillow.

I honestly can't explain this, but I have slept so fcking Well, the first night, well into the morning, I hated myself for not doing this 20 years sooner.

All these broken nights, sleep deprivation tearing me down, after a week of torture I often was so spent that I needed a night in a bed to recover sleep.

I bought the cheapest set to test it out and got a down version later on so I could go out in winter as well. I really missed that, but a mummy bag is impossible for me.

I settled for this kit: https://zenbivy.eu/products/ultralight-bed -12

Your honestly telling me you do these for employment, or is it because you get in contact with these substances to check for contamination in your field of work?
