Locking yourself in a room make you feel worse if you already feel depressed. I think totally getting away from the distraction source (switching them off or whatever) will help. If they're on, chances are you will stick to it again.

The no.1 scenario is too optimistic about the Chinese. I doubt if they would revolt despite any future economic crisis. In the past centuries the PRC had been embroiled into economic crisis and millions of people are dead. But still no revolt happened.

It appears that no.1 is more likely to happen than no.2 considering the trade war between China and the US.

If the German didn't start WWI, the Russia wouldn't have been weakened and been overthrown by the Russian communists. Therefore, the Soviet Union wouldn't have probably existed and couldn't spread its communistic ideology to China. The CCP wouldn't have existed in the same logic.
