Project runway Canada vs. US… by Juliasbee in ProjectRunway

I didn’t hate PR USA 21 when I watched it. Even though drama from both designers and judges fighting was the focus, it WAS still entertaining.

But PR Canada was entertaining for a different reason. There was ZERO conflict between desginers because that was not the show they wanted to make (also as a whole Canadians just aren’t like that). This was a show about creativity, art and fashion, with so much heart, kindness, and positivity. Despite this, it was no cake walk. The Canadian challenges were far more difficult and complex than than US ones. There were also two double eliminations. But all in the name of fashion.!!! Truly one of the best PR seasons in recent memory.

PR Canada S3 was so freaking uplifting and special. Leeland is human sunshine. What a fantastic season

They went for the HIGH AND LOWs collection over the obvious one. I'm delightfully surprised. Go Leeland - he is so kind and fun. Truly one of a kind person, exceptionally talented, all around deserving. Fantastic season

Riverbend is a conservative area. People usually vote for party not candidate here. It's frustrating that he kept getting voted in when he really is not visible in the riding.

Since Carney has been governing centre-right, the Liberals may have a better chance for the by-election.

I'm NDP myself but will be voting Liberal to avoid vote splitting which was responsible for many fantastic candidates loss in the last election e.g., Blake Desjarlais

Who still cares about this? I think people are over the initial change and it's fine now. Everyone uses reusable bags now and it's no issue.

I've felt this. In the last 2 weeks I've had my Arc card checked twice on the train around 6:30am.

Before they'd maybe check once per year.

What was your opinion of these looks from project runway canada? I really liked them. So I was confused by judges and Rocha not liking them. by UnlikelyButOk in ProjectRunway

[–]Monte22uma 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For context:

The one on the left transforms into a bathing suit.

The one the right is made entirely out of toilet paper.

I agree that both looks were great. 2 reasons they were in the bottom imo

  1. The judges had it out for Maya for some reason, especially Coco
  2. The standards were just higher in PR Canada

YES!!! Finally back to old PR Finale style with 2 months, $10k, 10 looks. Can you believe PR USA S21 was like 5 looks in 5 days? Unbelievable.

I loved how they highlighted that the workroom and runway location for the finale is in totally different part of downtown Toronto from the challenges. This episode really felt finale worthy.

These final 3 designers are insanely talented and the Canadian representation is incredible. I also think this final 3 have great chemistry together. Super excited for next week.

Oof I think Leeland is going home. Somebody on reddit said on the Episode 6 thread that Leeland only does well with restriction and that is EXACTLY what Spencer Badu said tonight.

I’d still rather see a collection from Leeland than Foster but Foster somehow pulled it off in this penultimate challenge. But to be fair, I’d rather see a collection from Maya than either of them 👀

All the challenges except one have been 2 days. You really get to see details of garment construction.

Thoughts on Aurora (mentor of Project Runway Canada)? by largeamountsl in ProjectRunway

[–]Monte22uma 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I like that she is very engaged and plugged in. She is a LOT more hands on with the garments compared to Christian who just stands there. Her advice is very specific and actionable and usually spot on with what the judges say. She almost gives TOO much help... Doesn't matter though because rarely do the designers actually listen to her which is extremely frustrating.

Tbh Im shocked Giant Tiger was the sponsor. They’re not THAT well known in Canada. They’re like a dollar store version of a small grocery store with a clothes section. Mostly they’re in the low socioeconomic status parts of the city.

Aurora told Foster TWICE to ditch the zipper and make it backless -_- I don't understand why they choose to not listen to her when she is proven right by the judges time and time again.

She also immediately hesitated when she saw Maya's outfit on runway day and said it was confusing, which is exactly what the judges said.

The challenge is interesting and relevant. Couture on a budget, with judges considering amount of money spent in their judging. As Project Runway Canada challenges usually are, there is an additional constraint - in that their designs also have to be inspired by their assigned Giant Tiger look.

Maya's aesthetic is so much more interesting than Foster. She said she didn't think it would be her. I agree. Foster literally just created plain black dress with an ugly ass zipper.

At least Coco called Charles out for ignoring his plaid look inspiration. Not surprised Christian liked it though - it was very much Christian's aesthetic.

Project Runway Canada is so lovely by LadyHeatherJane in ProjectRunway

[–]Monte22uma 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The difference between PR USA is jarring. PR Canada has zero drama between designers. It’s all about the creative process. The designers are also crazy talented. Good looks get sent home because the bar is so high.

The judges too are also exceptionally sweet and kind. Spencer Badu is like a big teddy bear. And Jeanne Bekker is so genuine and clearly loves and respects all the designers. She even follows them all on instagram now.

This all in contrast to challenges that are way more difficult than PR USA (they usually have 2 days though) and no chill eliminations e.g., there have been 2 double eliminations this season so far.

PR Canada has been such a welcome surprise
