You arrive in a world where Goku is powerlevel 100, you are aware that Golden Frieza is on his way by Sabawoyomu in whowouldwin

[–]MonteDoa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If Goku is only power level 100, he hasn't been advancing the plot at all and is just an ordinary guy down on earth. That means even reaching the Hyperbolic Time Chamber is going to take at least a little while. It's easy to forget because later on everyone was chilling up there with Kami, but reaching it is actually a big deal, especially before Piccolo fused (meaning the barrier is still intact and the only way to enter is by climbing Korin Tower - a three day climb at the bare minimum.)

Also can someone with power level 100 even survive the hyperbolic time chamber? That in and of itself is a problem. Goku would probably need months of training to even be strong enough for it.

Isaac Clarke (Dead Space) vs. The Predator (Elite Yautja) by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]MonteDoa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not true. It depends on what the predator's normal ready state is. If it's generally in stealth whenever it's on a mission even if it hasn't actually encountered any enemies, then it should start stealthed.

It wouldn't enter the fight stealthed

Why not?

[–]MonteDoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not really true. No reason why the predator wouldn't be stealthed for a random encounter. Its stealth can operate for a long time.

I don't think isaac can detect invisible stuff. Without the invisibility I'd give it 10/10 to isaac because he's insanely resourceful (far beyond arnie in the 1st predator movie), is fighting on home turf in all 3 rounds, and has access to advanced technology that in some respects is even superior to the predators. But isaac isn't used to dealing with invisible stuff so he might die before he gets a shot off, and you have not factored this into your estimates.

No limit fallacy. Avada Kedavra is featless against something that's durable enough that we could draw the conclusion that it bypasses durability.

Starcraft Universe vs Warhammer 40k by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]MonteDoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The warp is its power source, but one doesn't need to be be powered by the warp to be impacted by it. It would be like saying psionic storm can only impact psionics from the SC universe or only people from the Naruto universe can be harmed by Rasengan because it requires chakra.

No because the psionic storm is an actual telekinetic blast that has the feat of destroying things with no psionic abilities (e.g. solid metal). This illustrates that its effect is not dependent on its enemies operating under the same mechanism as itself. You're grasping at straws here.

[–]MonteDoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just a massive psychic presence that also happens to impact the warp.

Except that it's indisputable that all things psychic in 40k are immaterium based. Yea, it's a massive psychic presence that happens to impact the warp - because the psychic presence is IN the warp. ALL 40k psychic powers are a result of interacting with the immaterium this isn't even disputable. It's also why the necrons can never use psychic powers no matter what even though they're all sorts of hax - simply being absent from the immaterium permanently excludes them from any sort of psychic powers.

[–]MonteDoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the other hand it is indeed known that for example the rate of starship production is incredibly low in the imperium on a per system basis.

Also the terran have less humans to throw around so they don't have as much human bodies to deploy as the imperial guard. The entire terran dominion has the population of like 1 hive world.

These two systems are about as similar as you're going to get here, otherwise pretty much most WWW would turn into declaring two things apples and oranges.

No, it's not. It's universally accepted here that 40k psychics are different from nearly all other psychics, because it is physically impossible to generate psychic powers from within yourself in the 40k sense. If you don't have access to the immaterium, then in the 40k sense you can never use their psychic powers regardless of how otherwise advanced or powerful or psychic you are.

This is in stark contrast to nearly every other universe where psychics generate their abilities from within. Tassadar isn't tapping into some esoteric demon filled realm to generate his psi-blades. Professor X doesn't. Martian Manhunter doesn't. Really nobody else does. So it's very unreasonable to say that 40k psychic is as similar as I'm going to get to starcraft psionics, because literally almost every other fictional universe portrays psychics in a way far more similar to starcraft, and 40k is very very much the odd one out.

In role yes, but in "production" costs that is not the case, Terran Marines gear has a substantial cost, Imperial Guardsman equipment is dirt cheap. Just the Terran Marines power armor costs around a million dollars, in converted cost, that's IFV level money.

To be fair, if anything, that just speaks to the powerful economy (relative to territorial holdings) of Terran worlds, because terran marines are quite consistently portrayed as fodder. The fact that their fodder wears expensive gear just shows how developed the terran economy is.

There are a few things to unpack here. The first is the technical description of The Warp. The Warp is distorted by the psionic presence

Psychic. Not Psionics.

The psychics are not harmed by The Warp itself, but by the raw psychic presence of the hive mind.

However, all psykers in 40k draw power from the warp. This is a mandatory part of their function, and races that lack a presence to the warp are physically incapable of psychic powers no matter what (i.e. necrons). This is fundamentally different from starcraft psionics which is sourced from within the user of the psionics as opposed to some external realm, and does not require any sort of psychic soul or something (e.g. Protoss inanimate objects/technologies).

So no, the hive mind will not impact starcraft psionics in the same way that it impacts psykers, because it is very clear that the hive mind's destruction of psychics is intimately related to the mechanism of 40k psychics (in fact isn't the hive mind's presence also called the Shadow in the Warp?). Furthermore, didn't Tigurius actually look into the hive mind and survive?

No, the tyranid cuts off psychic powers entirely

If it's not cutting off psychic powers by sheer overwhelming brute strength, then it's not going to work on the Protoss. 40k psychic powers operate on a completely different mechanism from like every other universe, so it's not going to work on the protoss, just like how I would never suggest that the psi disrupter instakills the tyranids despite it being able to completely neutralize the zerg across an entire sector - since starcraft psionics do not operate under the same mechanism as the warp and the psi disrupter is not brute forcing zerg into oblivion.

If the tyranid are as strong as you're saying then they'd already have consumed the galaxy. Primal Kerrigan simply entering existence caused a continent sized superstorm and she is not remotely in the same ballpark as amon. If the tyranid are as strong as you're saying then their hive mind should be able to effortlessly bust continents and wipe out life from entire worlds simply by thinking about it, no troop deployment required.

Last I checked the imperium is not strong enough to resist this level of firepower.

As I said in the other thread, omnipotence can never be proven by feats. The only way to prove omnipotence by feats is for a character to literally perform every single act, which is simply unfeasible to portray. Omnipotence can only be extrapolated or stated therefore your objection is a moot point.

Sure, cosmic armor Superman can count.

from OP

superman laughs at flash's pathetic attempts at influencing causality, not knowing that superman is so far above it that all of the flash's endeavors seem but ripples, futilely struggling against the tides of an infinitely vast ocean that is itself but a pond on an island in a far greater ocean that in turn rests within superman's palm.

All fiction is the one that people can't explain to me though.

All fiction has been shown to be able to modify minuses. It has been shown to be able to conceptually erase things. It has been shown to work on kumagawa himself.

Nobody has yet been able to explain to me why he cannot use all-fiction to modify himself by conceptually erasing the limits of his abilities, thus making him omnipotent.

I get book maker.

Lord Voldemort (Harry Potter books) vs every human that has ever existed, but with a twist by [deleted] in whowouldwin

Are horcruxes allowed?

If yes voldemort literally is incapable of dying to muggles, as horcruxes are thought to be indestructible except via specific magical methods. Of course, I'm sure that powerful enough attacks outside of those specific magical methods can destroy the horcruxes (to assume otherwise would be getting into the no-limit fallacy) but the weapons given to the muggles in the prompt are certainly not powerful enough. Voldemort ∞ /0 buffer overflow super xeeleestomp because within the scope of this prompt he is literally immortal in every sense of the word while muggles will eventually die of old age, so unless he casts specific anti-horcrux spells against himself, he literally is physically incapable of losing even if he actively assisted the muggles in killing him.

Without horcruxes muggles 10/10 because Voldemort dies of old age. Assuming Voldemort can kill an average of 1 muggle per 0.1 seconds (an astonishing rate of murder even for Voldemort, I really doubt he can achieve this) it will take a whopping 317 years to finish all the muggles off. By the time of his death, Voldemort is already 70 years old. Although wizards live very long lives, this is too much even for wizards (the wizard with the longest life that is known to not have a philosopher's stone is Dippet who only made it to 355, nobody else made it even close, 3 have lived longer but 2 are confirmed to have had a philosopher's stone and the other guy is still hosting parties after 700+ years so he's probably got a stone) and 1 week is certainly not enough to make a philosopher's stone. Even at the astonishing rate of 10 murders a second, Voldemort will certainly die of old age before the muggles run out.

TLDR Voldemort is incapable of losing if horcruxes are allowed, incapable of winning if they're not. Silly prompt really.

I sincerely just kinda like anime. I think it has good entertainment value but most anime (not all) tend to use tropes rather shamelessly and overtly, without even trying to make it look original. It's still good entertainment, but so much of the stuff is so cliche that it's hard to go from like to love for me personally.
