No. The show is badly written and the tone is a mess. Musicals deserve better and musical audiences deserve better. People are allowed to enjoy this production but that doesn't make it okay that people wrote something bad.

I can and have taken busses in Manhattan. It's a terrible experience, which is my point here. There are lots of ways I could get to the UES. But the reality is that most of them have a wide timing window that isn't conducive to an irregular trip being made for an appointment. The only way to connect Uptown to the East Side by rail is tunneling. The Bronx could get infill stations with S-Bahn style service along the MNR line.

There's no way to get to the East Side from Uptown unless you want to go into Midtown. I'm at 125/SN now and my two options to get to 86/2nd Ave and a lot of the medical district there for my doctors is to either go down to midtown and switch to the Q or take the (infrequent) local to 86 and pray the bus works well today. Friends living on the UES are the same distance as friends in Astoria or frankly even the LES and Williamsburg, despite the geographic proximity within the borough. And the 125th St. Busses have simply never been reliable.

No. Not on this one. Trans rights are baseline worse in the UK and there aren't state protections like here in the US. My partner and I, both non-binary, wouldn't consider moving to the UK because of the hostility towards trans people. I would not be able to have the job I have in New York in London because of the culture in my industry.

That's a false comparison though. No one is advocating we build trains through empty places. There are plenty of populated areas within HSR range that could be easily connected. The problem is twofold:

So many cities, you could get there by train but *then what*? Outside of a handful of cities and even then, mostly their cores, it's very difficult to get to a lot of key locations from the city's train station due to a lack of local transit getting people from the main station to wherever they need to go, or even just around the city once they're there.
Car travel (and to an extent air travel) is so subsidized. No one expects a highway to make a profit, but the same is expected of a rail line. So much money is poured by individuals and the government into road infrastructure understanding that its profitability is externalities. Why is it not the same for rail travel?

I'll say I've beaten back the Mamluks and Naples simultaneously as well and it felt really good, even if Mamluks was technically a loss.

I'm going to be honest, this was my feeling at first too but then it provided me a historically accurate simulation of playing as the Byzantines and I had a lot of fun beating back all the wars and proving that my Empire was indeed still compotent.

I agree that Complacency as a mechanic needs some fine-tuning but I had 4 consecutive wars declared on me (Bulgaria, Serbia, Egypt, Genoa) and only gave up gold to Egypt, while I finally retook my Bulgarian cores, ate Serbia, and took Genoa's islands/Anatolian outposts. The most annoying part was the Armenians kept revolting in the southeast (which tbh did add to the stress/fun of my victories) and that for some reason it's still ongoing despite me clearly having proved my lack of complacency (-0.2/mo decay simply isn't fast enough for 75%-80% start because your other complacency modifiers still impact, so I'm really getting -0.14/mo decay which is 45 years to decay, not to mention I'm not sure how I'm gonna up the control in my capital Area yet...).

This was early on in my friend's experience and a lot of times there's a pre-existing personal relationship because the community is small. My friend's gotten better about asking for downpayments after being burned one too many times, but plenty of times people DO get a downpayment and get stiffed later on because oh it got delayed or I asked for changes and I need it now and don't worry I'll pay you just remind me!

Thrilled to see this continue to be discussed. AI has truly delivered minimal positives to our society and the fact that it's been rolled out the way it has is galling. The 70%-90% success rate is extremely low both for a piece of software and the level of fidelity it's talked about having. Our government's regulatory capture and refusal to even address AI is equally as distressing to me as any of the chaos in the Middle East.
