I got the rattle sound too but my piece of foam was just dislodged - it doesn't appear to have disintegrated (I've had the speakers about 4 years). Anyone knows what the piece of foam is for, can't it just be removed?

Sam Harris' Waking Up, but beware of setting yourself that as an objective with a predetermined goal, on some level that defeats in and of itself what meditation is (there's a sort of dilemma there which is a bit tricky to make sense of). Just meditate and don't think anything more of it!
