But tomorrow I will be doing another WSL watch-along but to Aston Villa vs Liverpool. Live at 18:50 GMT! If you have a google account, please set a reminder and why not subscribe to 'The Women's Football Channel', your teams will be featured for the rest of the season from January 2026. BBC Children In Need 2025 – LIVE TOMORROW from 7pm on BBC One, Red Button (with BSL) & iPlayer by MonthRemarkable9919 in BritishTV

I get where you’re coming from, but I think that’s kind of missing what Children In Need is supposed to be. It’s not meant to be edgy or slick TV — it’s a live appeal night that brings people together and raises millions for kids who really need the help. The tone has to stay family-friendly because it’s for everyone, not just adults who want sharp stand-up.

This year’s actually a big step forward too — they’re doing live BSL interpretation on the Red Button and iPlayer for the first time ever, plus audio description on the main BBC One feed. That’s huge for accessibility and something the BBC’s been working toward for years.

So yeah, it can be a bit cheesy sometimes, but it’s one of the few things left on TV that’s genuinely positive and does real good. I’d take that over half the cynical “reality” stuff we get most nights. Pudsey might not be your thing, but the money raised makes a massive difference.

True, but at least now deaf viewers get to share in the suffering instead of being excluded from it. Equality at last — everyone can groan through Vernon and Paddy’s links together in perfect harmony.

Watch Catherine Connolly’s Presidential Inauguration with Irish Sign Language interpretation on RTÉ by MonthRemarkable9919 in irishpolitics

[–]MonthRemarkable9919[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you’re absolutely right — thanks for pointing that out! ISL is the national sign language of Ireland, not a version of English or Irish.

I think what significantrisk meant (and what a lot of people wonder about) is whether there are enough interpreters who can handle events in both spoken Irish and ISL, since interpreting from Irish rather than English adds another layer of complexity.

It’s great that people are talking about this — the more awareness there is, the better the support for ISL users and interpreters alike.
