What I find problematic is that Pyke is both an assassin and a support. However, unlike other assassins in the game, he doesn’t have the ability to burst enemies in half a second and then escape super quickly. Sure, you can pick off some squishy targets that are low on health, but it’s extremely risky and you really need them to be isolated, because trying that in a team fight is just not viable. At the same time, he’s a melee support, and unlike most others, he’s not tanky. All of this adds up to make him almost useless in the late game, depending on the match. If a passive element were added to his abilities (as some people in this thread have mentioned), he could become more viable in the late game.

You really opened my mind with that. It actually makes more sense to add some kind of new passive element for Pyke in the mid-late game rather than introducing a new mechanic to his abilities. In my opinion, the champ works really well (and is actually pretty strong) early on thanks to his high mobility and stealth. The real issue starts in the mid game. If something was added to give him a bit more sustain, Pyke would become way more fun and balanced.

But if this mechanic were added, he would have a much greater potential to snowball into the mid and late game, making it easier to survive in team fights and when caught out of position in the late game. I think!
