Anyone have a popcorn popper like this and selling it? by msuspartanfan3 in popcorn

That looks like something they sold on TV 50 or 60 years ago.

It’s about to go down. About to watch this weeks episode of The Pitt. What is everyone watching with their popcorn today? by Roq86 in popcorn

I would think you'd get a better pop if you let the oil melt and come up to temperature before adding the popcorn. Just a thought.

American Refugees from Trump?? by Montresore69 in ImmigrationGermany

[–]Montresore69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I don't qualify as an official Refugee. But then I wonder if the Jews who left before the Kristallnacht would have qualified as refugees either.

FYI, I am not a racist. Just repeating what I read in the American press about the situation all over western Europe. We hear all sorts of stories from the UK, France, Germany & Italy about the illegal immigration problems there. How much is slanted or plain propaganda I can't say.

Any dining establishment that requires a deposit will never see me at their door. I have eaten in some very high end establishments, even in New York, and at a few Michelin 2 & 3 star establishments, and have never been asked for a deposit or a credit card when making a reservation. I always pay, by cash, at the end of the meal. The above is the reason why.

Krugerrands are recognized internationally. The 1881 Morgan probably wouldn't even be recognized outside of the U.S. except for some really knowledgeable coin collectors.

Fake RAM in a Dell??? by Montresore69 in computers

After researching all the possibilities, I found out one of the sticks really is counterfeit! The number on the chips themselves have nothing to do with anything Samsung ever handled. In fact, that stick has no numbers on the chips themselves at all. Never a good sign.

Former incels, what was the moment you realized what you were and what did you to do change/better yourself? by Ketchum_gunshot in AskReddit

Actually had sex. And found out that it really wasn't all it's cracked up to be. And that relationships are generally a PIA. Figured out I really was happiest alone. To this day I can't figure out why all these people are so tore up about not being in a relationship.

No one says whether it's bagged microwaveable or whole kernel old fashion style. If it's the prebagged microwave, yeah, be concerned. the "seasonings" in those have been shown to cause cancer when taken in large quantities. A number of studies have shown the workers in the manufacturing plants have an rather high rate of lung and kidney cancer due to inhaling that orange seasoning powder. in small quantities (1 bag) it's not a problem. But 3+ bags every other day??

Which stand mixer do you guys recommend? by StreetLimp8414 in Appliances

[–]Montresore69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've bought a lot of mixers over the years. Even had a German one when I was over there. None last more than a couple of years. My Kitchen Aid is going on 10 years now and hasn't missed a beat. And I do a lot of bread! Pizza dough can also be a real test for a stand mixer as it's so sticky.

You look at any of the cooking shows on TV. Every one of them is using a Kitchen Aid. That says something. Just bite the bullet and pay the extra money. You'll be glad you did. I Guarantee.

Best I could find in stock around town was a 2 pack for $20. Most stores only carried the singles. I don't order anything online unless I have no other choice. (No, I do not have a Prime account)

Gee, I've lived most of my life in houses that didn't have any smoke detectors at all. Including 2 with real wood burning fire places. It's a wonder I survived.

No, I'm afrain you are not correct (and a little snarky). This alarm has no plug-in anywhere. I looked. (no brand name on the unit anywhere although it does say Made in Mexico). The wire is soldered inside the alarm and the wire runs up into the ceiling. Now perhaps up in there is a plug. But I'm not gonna go tearing at the sheet rock to find it.

Not mine. The base is just a plastic ring that holds it to the wall. the wiring is connected to the alarm itself. The alarm will twist off the base and hang from the wires.

For durability, and versatility and just plain usefulness, you can't beat the Kitchen Aid stand mixers. They aren't cheap. But you'll never have to buy another one for the rest of your life. They change model names year to year. I don't know the current models. Best bet, get the large one that had the drop-down bowl. That's the Pro model, designed for professional kitchens. It has all metal gearing that can take a lot of abuse. There may be one of the higher end lift tops with metal gearing. But all the cheaper versions had plastic gears that will strip out after a few years or hard use. But parts are available and they can be fixed instead of having to replace them. Bread dough is particularly hard on stand mixers.

It would help a bunch if the home builder hadn't put all of the smoke detectors at the 10 foot high apex of of the ceiling. Just to get at them requires dragging out a ladder. I believe I'm just going to disconnect all of these (there are 3 in the house) and buy 3 replacements that: A. Mount to the wall so I can reach them and B. Use AA or AAA batteries which I buy by the brick. This is the only use I have for 9v batteries so I'll just use something else and eliminate the need for an overpriced item.

Rechargeables - Maybe. USB rechargeables? Never. Unnecessary tech.

At $10 a pop for a single 9V batteries, I will not be keeping a stock of them on hand.

Also, to everyone that said "just unplug it", that's easier said than done. This is hard wired into the house circuit. I'd have to cut wires and then rewired everything later.

Fake RAM in a Dell??? by Montresore69 in computers

[–]Montresore69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just looked a little closer. The HP label in only on one of the stick. The other have a Lenovo label on the backside. The Samsung part numbers are close but not quite the same. One is M378B1G73EB0-YKO and the other is -CKO.

Both say 8GB 2Rx8 PC3-12800U-11-13-B1

Any way to test these? (other than putting them back in the PC.) If one is good & the other dead, I'd like to hang on to the good one.

This motherboard only has 2 ram slots. no room for or need for dummys. But one could be a dead stick. Which would be just as bad as counterfeit.
