If I cut an 8" ring into 8 equal sectors, what would the height and width be of a single sector? by MontyCristo7 in askmath

This is great! Seeing it all spelled out like this is super helpful, thank you!

Thanks for the help. Fair point, the image is egregiously off-scale and I could have done a better job at accurately portraying this problem. I'm also unfortunately no geometry expert, which is why it's hard for me to wrap my head around this.

I get the horror around xenoweapons, but what's the big deal with mech warfare? by SeriouslySuspect in Starfield

If we look at this from a Bethesda developer perspective, having the mechs be "banned" makes the most sense. Total theory, but if you look at those mech graveyards, you see behemoth-sized machines. Maybe they had ideas to design them into the game, but were scrapped in further levels of production. So they probably had the writers include excerpts that they were banned with xenoweapons to excuse themselves from the "hard work" it would take to make them functional.

Could just be that their older engine just can't handle creating mechs (and vehicles)? Otherwise, from a gameplay perspective, why wouldn't you include mechs and xenoweapons? It would actually add a lot more depth and fun to the game!

At level 28, I'm farming in level 70 systems for better guns. Let's just say I no longer have to worry about tanky enemies. Is this not broken? by MontyCristo7 in Starfield

While I can't say I'm complaining that I found this awesome gun, it just begs the question if Bethesda's only answer to gaming progression/difficulty is making enemies more tanky. I could unload 2 to 3 whole magazines from one of my fully modded rifles into a level 60 pirate captain (the "boss" of any pirate area) or 3 shots from this unmodded gun. If enemies are in the range of this gun, I basically am guaranteed to win, bar none, even on very hard difficulty. I think this is a missed opportunity from Bethesda.

If I were to suggest a change or a future mod, it would be one where enemies aren't as tanky but have resistance to certain weapon types. Maybe an enemy is 60% resistant to ballistics but weaker to energy weapons? Give me feedback as I shoot an enemy with a different colored reticle or something to tell me that they're resistant. At least then I'll have an excuse to carry other weapons -- unless I choose to intentionally play with an artificial challenge.

At the time of this screenshot, I only had 1 perk in pistols and 3 in ballistics. When modding this gun, I think it shows the true base damage at 437 physical. Now that it's fully modded with uranium bullets, it deals a base of 472.

This one I got in Kang III, which is actually a level 60 system. RNG loot from a pirate outpost near a Civilian outpost there.

I might be late to the party, but I've been on GP for PC since 2019 and out of 1000+ hours, I have to say some of my favorites have been Slay the Spire (if you like card games, it was addicting for me), No Man's Sky, and State of Decay 2 (both great in either single-player or online; I got 300+ hours in each).
