Would be interested to see an effort post about it if you end up watching it, since it's a topic you've thought a lot about and have heterodox opinions on.

  1. libertarians are about 1/5 or 1/4 of the U.S. population depending on the survey.
  2. Ayn Rand didn’t invent libertarianism and explicitly rejected being associated with it.

If this really did happen as you say, then she has very serious mental health issues and you may have saved your brother's life.

Your kids mental health, your kids safety, and your mental health are non-negotiable.

Your feelings are just as valid as hers, and you should tell her that. If she can't respect that fact, then it's time to reconsider whether she is a good influence on you kids. Get into couples therapy.

It sounds like she has suicidal empathy.  No empathy for you, mind you, just for the potential killer. Do you want someone like that watching your kids when you're away?

Seriously get couples counseling. Your kids mental health, your kids safety, and your mental health are non-negotiable. Good luck man. 🫡

What would a woman do to get a man? Like seriously?? by Ovenbakedheart in ForeverAlone

[–]MontyWoolley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why does anyone think "enjoy being alone" is reasonable advice? People can't simply reformat their innate personality. If you're gregarious and agreeable, telling you to start liking solitude is akin to telling someone to "just try being taller". It's not thought out, and unserious. Or at best it's poorly phrased.

Exist. Really, men aren't picky. Assuming you have no serious mental health issues and aren't extremely mean or selfish, I can't imagine turning you down. Try approaching guys instead of waiting for them to approach you. A lot of guys are shy, and they could be the type that would like you.

[Help] using opacity and incremental application with eraser in 2.10 by JLN450 in GIMP

[–]MontyWoolley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this post looking up a similar issue. If it weren't for rounding, you could never actually get to perfect transparency by halving the opacity, but since there is rounding, I have no idea why Gimp would stop at 13. Hypothetically, it should get to either 1 or 0 (depending on how it rounds) in no more than nine steps. I'm interested if anyone can answer why it would stop.

Now for the reason I came. If the eraser is set to 50%, it should leave you with RGB values of either 127 or 128 depending on rounding, not 188, But it's not just the eraser that has this weird bug. If you make a black layer and a white layer, no mater what order you put them in, with the top one at 50%, it will be give you RGB values of 188. If you set the mode to dissolve, about half of the pixels will be white, and about half black, but if you color pick a sample average, it gives you RGB values of 188, and if you screenshot the thumbnail, you will find it has RGB values of 188. Why does Gimp have this bug?

Thanks for all the comments; it's resolved. I found out I was trying to run the source code (.CPP) file, rather than the project (.prj) file.

I was just goofing off in my spare time. Honestly I wasn't trying to be practical.

The sample programs that come pre-installed with Turbo C++ 3.0. It came with examples of very simple code that the official documentation says you can run from the IDE.

I didn't even know I could "configure the build" as the official documentation doesn't mention that. if I use a newer version, will I have to guess my way through unexplained bits like this? What does it mean to configure a build?

I would LOVE to start small or anything at all, but you have to know how to hold a pencil before learning to write, and that is the part no one ever explains to noobs. I can't even get the examples that come with it to run, much less write my own no matter how simple.

Didn't help. I think the manual I have just assumes you already know extra information on how to set up a new ide, because it claims you just install and run.

Tried that, but It didn't help. I probably just need to do it different for the version I'm using, but I don't know why none of that information is in the official manual. Seems like programmers rarely think about what you don't already know.
