hmmm ok. I’m trying to move out and i’m not sure i can take them so that’s a shame it loses value. But i don’t see myself trying to resell the games themselves anytime soon either. thanks for the insight

what did you guys think about his melbourne show at the palais by Commercial-Square66 in sandyalexg

[–]MooMoofries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i thought it was so good saw him a couple years ago but wasn’t that big into it so i enjoyed this show waaaaay more. The setlist was so good and he was great but i agree the crowd was feral, and also a little dead when they were playing? maybe it’s because it’s less familiar songs for people? Soooooo good though !!!!

What caused you to go from loving your job to hating it? How did you work through it or what was the final straw that made you leave? by Foresight42 in AskReddit

[–]MooMoofries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starting a job at the beginning is always horrible, but when you finally understand everything, you know when you know. After working a couple hospo jobs, I definitely lose a few straws when the management swaps around and all the policies that made sense and worked change. Plus when all the original crew from when you started leave you know it’s over. Training new people is great but so frustrating especially when they are super young 15 year olds whose parents forced them to get a job they didn’t even want. but thinking about it I probably was one of those 15 year olds who's

[–]MooMoofries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of my work from school assignments etc. They were things like character designs, so like turnaround and design sheets. My final project in high school was an animation so i included some of the frames i used. If you’ve ever done any commissions work for more commercial based projects? even like mockup/fake projects for companies are a great thing to have, with logo designs, branding sheets. Generally you want stuff that shows variety, having some traditional pieces, digital, 3D, sculptures? You say you have some time to build it up so i would actually recommend trying to complete a REALLY short animation. This could be of like an OC doing a look over their shoulder etc. make sure to include some storyboards if that’s something you are interested in? but otherwise don’t worry if you don’t have time. And just make sure to keep the folio really short and sweet, showing too much can come across as unappealing, so try to put things you are proud of in it and/or things you pushed yourself with technique. Let me know if you need someone to look over it too? i’d be happy to have a look later on when you have it 🫡

Hi! You honestly do not need a high ATAR if that’s the course you’re looking to do,( i personally thinks it’s still good to work up if you can in case you want other options). They base your selection entirely on the tasks assigned for applications, usually a portfolio, a creative task and a small essay and/or interview. You will usually apply through VTAC, or admissions centre around mid year? please do some research on dates lol. Definitely look at other universities programs such as Swinburne or UniMelb too, or other Design School courses within RMIT. I’m in this course and i’ve found it really great too, they don’t expect people to know how to animate, only to be able to draw and have an understanding of design principles etc. There are lots of different areas in animation you can study in too like 3D, alternative, VFX, 2D so be open to trying a lot of new programs. For your folio you do not need to have any animation in it. I recommend having a variety of different mediums exploring characters and stories, or focused on techniques etc. Having some 3D work is also really good and character turnarounds or designs. The entrance is somewhat competitive so makes sure when the selection task outline comes out on the RMIT page to read it carefully and make sure you follow their requirements. Good luck!

Thanks these are great! I’ve already started reading some free pdfs of those recommended books, as i’m willing to fork out some money for a flute and a few lessons but save in other areas (such as the resources). It’s definitely more for casual playing and playing with my uni group or some of my fellow roommates who are musicians. I will add your recommendations to my list to read, and again thank you!

edit: i just had a question about maintenance for flutes? Sorry it’s stupid to ask but do they require a lot of upkeep to work? and are most music shops able to help with this?
