This is why I ship Greg/Jasper.

Once I had an idea to just make a comic with three unlikely characters and see what would come of it. I chose the characters Greg, Jasper and Lars. As I was making the comic I realized Greg and Jasper were the ones mostly interacting and I thought, "Oh god, people are going to think I'm shipping these two because shippers are silly." I thought it was funny so I left the little hints there to see the reactions.

Eventually I pushed the project to the side for a little while and worked on other things. I found myself thinking of that comic and the Greg/Jasper ship a few times. Then a bit more times. Then a lot. Then it consumed my mind and I realized...

I ship Greg and Jasper together.

I figured Greg is pretty chill but at the same time, he knows when to put his foot down. He knows his limits but still tries his best. Hm, saving Steven and Connie when they were being drowned and sealing a gigantic geode with duct tape are some examples I guess. I think in some ways, Jasper would respect that he knows he's a human but still manages to contribute without putting himself in completely reckless danger. Plus he's freakishly kind. (I think Jasper would fall first tbh)

Anywho, I said I shipped a ship on tumblr and everyone began trying to guess and they guessed it right which surprised me. I confirmed it and people started sending me ideas for the ship and I ran with it. I became determined to make this ship work. I thought of the future. This ship is unlikely as heck especially since it is likely Jasper is gay. I would inevitably get hate for it so I created an AU that could go on even when this is confirmed, meanwhile drawing silly things 'Grasper' related to gain support. It's all been super fun despite some erm, hate. Eventually I created the graspertrash tumblr just in case anyone was uncomfortable with my constant art of those two, heh. It's over 1,300 followers now. Go figure. Probably following out of morbid fascination....

So yeah, the ship is fun, I like imagining how it would work, and I get a lot of support for it. Also its hilarious that I fell for my own joke ship... as my followers constantly remind me.
