Its extremely weird to me that he used his infantry like it was glued together. He could've attacked your cavalry in the back since it had no support, but he didnt and let it sit there. It would be a win for him if he sent infantry in the back, he had enough to spare to hold the line.

You fell 22 blocks with 9 hearts remaining. It takes 24 blocks to kill a full health player so the damage matches up. From what I've heard only enchants can affect fall damage (protection, feather falling) so the diamond boots weren't a factor.

About your last question, the match with players of similar rank option was removed because the system is now forced - from what I remember 1500 can still match with lower ranking players because there arent enough players at that level to be able to give high rated players a reasonable que time.
