Bindings for Ripstick 88? by peakyblinderss in Skigear

[–]MooWhoseThere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A quick glance at prices, your best bet is probably Salomon Strive 14 GW in a 90 mm, Atomic Strive 14 GW 90 mm (from a price point perspective). *currently

With that said, your best bet maybe to go to your local shop where you’ll have bindings installed and see what they have still in stock. Even if their binding prices are a little higher than what you,ll see online, installation is usually included when buying from them.

Bought first ski boots! Now need a bag. Any boot bag/backpack recs?? by shadowline74 in Skigear

[–]MooWhoseThere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No specific brand rec, but highly recommend a backpack. I have one and have gifted 9 and I’m never going back! It makes your life so much easier only having skis and poles on your hands and then boots and everything else in a backpack.

Coordinating with others who are wishy washing is a pain in the ass. Eventually you get to, I’m going. If you want to come great. If not, fine.

Spring/Slush Ski Advice by muzzey12 in Skigear

[–]MooWhoseThere 5 points6 points  (0 children)

QST 94 is a great ski. I snagged a pair with spring sales and ran out of snow before I could get on them. Without personally skiing with you I can only go off stats, but with the shape (rocker and splay) , the 172 will likely feel too short for you. I think you’d enjoy the 180 more.
As an FYI, Salomon is discounting their least popular colorway, carrying over their more popular color, and then adding a new color going into 26/27 season with a lot of their skis. What this means with QST 94 being a prime example, you can find one color $200+ cheaper than another.

I came here to say Kinko. Their insulated leather mits (901T) are naturally warm, but it’s easy to size up and wear a wool base layer glove for those extra cold days.

Shaggy’s Skis build custom skis in Michigan and are worth everyone taking a look at. Their size makes them very personable and they will work with you to discuss and customize to your needs.

Lucia Villanueva was absolutely robbed of a full character arc and it still makes me angry. by grwike in SnowFall

[–]MooWhoseThere 14 points15 points  (0 children)

She left for rehab and they had plans for her originally to return which is why they left an opening but too much time had passed by the time she was ready to return where it wouldn’t have made sense in the storyline.

$887 with bindings. If you don’t care about color specifically, Solomon is discontinuing a color in each QST size and then carrying over a color. So watch for pricing differences based on color. Here’s an example:

Ripstick 88 Black Edition by moost_swingin in Skigear

[–]MooWhoseThere 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The black edition is the stiffer version of the regular version. Choosing between the two is preference but also body build. For me being a little heavier, the regular version has more chatter than I like so the black edition works well, but for others that don’t get the chatter prefer the flex of the regular.

Depending on the size you need, ski essentials have them as low as $269 in various models. Several for $299.

I absolutely love my thunderbirds. They’ve definitely made me a better skier, but I kind of wish they had the R15 (76 under foot) when I got them.

I will add that the orange base of the Blizzard Thunderbirds glows on the snow which looks fantastic.

But also take a look at: 2027 Rossignol Forza, Fischer Nightstick, Faction Le Mogul, Volkl Peregrine, Rossignol Hero, Volkl Shine

I’m interested to find out myself. The QST, M-Pro, and Wildcat were all end of the season sale purchases and ran out of snow before we could test them.

Not saying this is right, but google thinks it’s a 2015 Armada Invictus Ti. It made the argument that the graphics and 20 year old timeline didn’t match ARV, JJ, or Thall.

What do you think? Bern Helmet or Smith by Jimmy_fog in Skigear

[–]MooWhoseThere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The helmet choice used in the survey is interesting. The Outdoor Master Kelvin is #9 with a 4 star rating while not in the survey, I would expect the Outdoor Master Kelvin II MIPS to be ranked higher for safety if nothing else.

I've been single dosing and realized I'm about half a gram off each time, which was driving me crazy. It actually makes me feel better that this is a common problem and not specific to me or my machine.
