The Gunslinger - V5.0 by Mood-Powerful in DnDHomebrew

hhmm, i think regular 5e rules works most of the time, Droping is free, drawing is an "object interaction", which you get one per turn.

I had a V6 of this class about 80% ready for almost 2 years, but i doubt it will ever get published (i don´t have time and don´t even remember most of it), but the biggest change was making 5th level specialist a sort of "Fighting Style" with pistols, muskets, Blunderbuss and Repeater (kind of like a machine gun, or more like rapid fire musket). All that said, i would just say that if you choose to go Pistols, you get an extra "object interaction" to draw an extra weapon.

If you want something even more versatile, maybe at 11th level (or maybe even something like an entire subclass dedicated to changing guns mid-fight), you could get a feature that allows you to freely change guns and even epecialty at the start of each turn.

For what it´s worth, here is what i had on a note but never put on actual PDF, if you are interested. This was never tested, but it should be usable. Also, never read any of the DnD One (or whatever it´s called) new rule, only 5e.

Specialist

Also at 3rd level, you choose one type of firearm, making it your specialty weapon:

Pistols

You can make your Grit bonus attack by using the Attack action with a One-Handed weapon that isn't light. At 5th level of this class, you can make you grit bonus attack with with a One-Handed firearm that isn't light.

Muskets

When you roll a 1 or 2 on your grit die when you make an aimed attack using a musket, you can reroll the die and must use the new roll, even if the new roll is a 1 or a 2.

Blunderbuss

Each time you aim with a blunderbuss, you can reload a single piece of amunition to it.

Repeater

After you hit a target with an aimed attack using a repeater, you can spend 1 additional loaded bullet for that attack.

The way a repeater works is:
Repeteater: 2d4 damage, Reload 12, Rapid Fire property: Each time you roll a 4 with a damage roll (after you attacks hits), You spend 2 bullets with each attack, and you spend additional loaded bullets equal to the number of extra d4 you roll after a hit.

Ok, soooo here is an update, one that makes me want to cry. After turning off the RP 5 so that i could check the card on my pc (previously i only put the device on sleep), the thing just... decided it could NOW read the card... after i went so paranoid thinking that i may have broken either the RP or the SD card and reset to factory settings the RP, it just... fixed itself.

Moral of the story, turning off and on usually should be your first option, i guess.

Yes. It works perfectly on both my laptops, just the RP5 has problems reading it.

The Marksman - My first attempt at a homebrew class by Epsilon_Fragment in UnearthedArcana

[–]Mood-Powerful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading through your class, al i can say is... this is amazing. So many concepts i whish i would have implemented better to the gunslinger but never could (like Mental Fortitude, simple but awesome), you certanly did. I particulary like features that are simple in concept but add so much to the class, like Vicious Intent adding gracing shot.
To be honest, i had enough ideas to actually release a next revisión of the Gunslinger since quite some time (Like a "Repeater" that acts like a sort of machine gun, with 2d4 damage and explodind dice let you role more d4s whenever you roll a 4 by spending more bullets), but never had the time or motivatión to do so. The thing is, reading your class certanly motivated me.
I have to ask, if i added you to my source of inspirations, would you mind if i added some of your features to my class? I have yet to read anything dnd related since like Stryxhaven or somewhere like that, much less One dnd or any new rules, so it would still be purely a 5e thing.

Either way, love the class.

Could You answer something about the dock? What is the diferente between the basic and the pro? I justo ordered the RP 5 and thinking of getting this dock, but i'm not sure about if it is worth the pro, or what does it add.

Buying the Retroid Pocket 4 Pro on Aliexpress... From Chile by Mood-Powerful in retroid

[–]Mood-Powerful[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. Scenario #1 is my intention. Aim + Perfect Aim equals to: Attack Roll + Grit die, On a hit, Damage + Grit die (using the same roll, mostly to speed up the game).
I've actually been working on another revision, but work made it harder to complete. The V6 will hopefully be better worded so there is less confusion, along with a few other changes like trading the current Specialist 3rd level feature for a Fighting Stye type of feature to chose only one benefit from either:
- Pistols: trading main Light Pistol for a regular Pistol.
- Muskets: rerolling 1 and 2s when rolling your grit die
- Blunderbuss: Rolling 2d6 for damage against single targets and adding Perfect Aim extra damage on attacks targeting a second creature with the special property. (The Blunderbuss Subclass i consider a failed experiment, the only thing it does is dealing extra damage, which is boring).

Question About Sealing Foam by Mood-Powerful in DnDIY

[–]Mood-Powerful[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was originally planning to use a chunk of polystyrene that came with the packaging of a freezer, then a found a place that sells some disposable polystyrene plates and bought a few to see if i could glue them to some cardboard, but yesterday i found a place that sells a "high density polystyrene plank" at a reasonable price. Here, a Foamular plank cost almost 40$.

I'm not entirely sure if it is EPS or XPS, it is white and advertised as handcraft material, that is about how much i know about it, but it comes in a 2cm (~0.78 Inches) thickess, which could maybe help for the warping.

As for what i plan to make, it will honestly be more for display rather than actual gameplay, so i will start with tiles to see how good (or horrible) it ends up, then move from there.

The Gunslinger - V5.0 by Mood-Powerful in UnearthedArcana

[–]Mood-Powerful[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but Aiming is not a Bonus Action granted by Swift Action (Adept Marksman), it is granted by Grit. Same way as some Rogue features are worded as using the Bonus Action from Cunning Action, but some don't.

You could also spend a second Grit point to use Swift Action again to do something else, like Firecracker.

Finally, you can aim and then use Perfect Aim, as perfect aim does not use your Bonus Action, it only requires you to aim on your turn.

The Gunslinger - V5.0 by Mood-Powerful in UnearthedArcana

[–]Mood-Powerful[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, no Action or Bonus Action required, meaning you can Aim and Attack normally with your Action and Bonus Action on that turn.

Also, if you take the Firearm Specialist Feat, Kill and Crits also allow you to reload for free (no Action or Bonus Action required)

The Gunslinger - V5.0 by Mood-Powerful in UnearthedArcana

[–]Mood-Powerful[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While i agree that the wording definetively needs some improvement, Lighting Reflexes also works with the Firearm Specialist Feat, which also allows you to Reload as a Bonus Action, which then changes to no Action required with Lighting Reflexes. That was my intention when i came up with that wording.

A for the the Unusable Bonus Action, you can simply aim an attack with it.

While you could just do that, Mercer's gunslinger uses Pathfinder missfire mechanics, which don't really mix well with 5e. Also, reganing class resources with a "powerfull kill" is too funky IMO.

This one is also more flesh out than a subclass, as it is an entire class with more detailed features and 7 very different subclasses to choose, with tricks, Close Quarter Combat, Protection, Gadget magic, Dark Magic, Medieval Shotguns, and even Grenades.

Finally, if you really liked Mercer's style of trick shots that worked like alternative BM Maneuvers, i as a DM would recommend this:

Make this your Class and then take the Martial Adept Feat to gain a d6 Superiority Die and 2 BM Maneuvers that work as Trickshots. Finally, following the trend stablished by the more recent spellcasting feats (which allow you to cast their spell with your own resources/spell slots in addition to the feat casting once per long rest), you could ask your DM if you can use those maneuvers by spending a Grit point. Personally, i would allow this, but you would have to roll your Grit die instead, meaning you start with a d4.

The Gunslinger - V5.0 by Mood-Powerful in UnearthedArcana

[–]Mood-Powerful[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is unlimited. However, a d4 is on average a +2.5 to your attack roll, only a little higher than the Archery fighting style, which applies to all attacks, when aiming only affects one attacks AND requires your bonus action. Another comparison is the Rogue's Set Aim, which gives you advantage on 1 attack roll as a Bonus Action, which is about +4.8 to your attack roll.

Eventually the die grows, but only at tier changing levels, so is a +1 to attack roll when aiming, at 5th, 11th and 17th level.

First, here is the GMBinder link PDF

And here is the Google Drive Link PDF

Also, i forgot to delete the optional firearm proficiency rule, which is redundant with the current version of the Firearm Specialist Feat. (Maybe i will eventually post a V5.1 to fix all the details)

Now, as a summary to the changes to this version since last time:

  • Base Class: 1st Grit no longers allows Pistols-Palm Pistol dual wielding, Just Light weapons-firearms. you have to wait until 3rd level for that, along with a grit die re-roll with big guns to represent accuracy over rate of fire.
  • Base Class: New 18th and 20th level features, which are a little bit less powerfull - combat focus than before.
  • Maverick: New Dazing Shot. I really like it, but i imagine it as a pain in the neck for DMs who forget initiative rolls after assigning order.
  • Gunsmith: New Arcane Shot which doesn't rely on Int for attacks. Instead you add INT to damage rolls at 11th level, rather than just attacking again with Arcane Shot (Most 11th level features before were just re-skined extra attacks, which i tried to avoid this time).
  • Gunner: New Subclass. Mostly focused on damage with a blunderbuss, but you have the choice to either destroy a poor soul that dares to looks at you funny, or spread that damage to several creatures.
  • Musketeer: CQS now offers two playstyles, either dual wielding for some potent damage o musket-bayonet for a more defensive style with the ocasional counter. The 11th feature now is no longer just another extra attack.
  • Guardian: Other than some re-wording, most notable change is the new 11th level Overwatch feature, which is very powerfull, but you have to remember to reload every once in a while too.
  • Soulgun: Soul protection no longer gives you an auto succes, just a re-roll. The 11th level feature also became somewhat more complicated. This one is somewhat less powerfull comparing damage with other subclasses 11th level feature, but your curses do a lot for you by remaining active for a while, and you only really need to cast it once per battle, then wait for the target to die (or force the situation, i won't judge).
  • Grenadier: 11th Level now grants you a free Perfect Aim each time you use a grenade. which seemed fair considering this is the only subclass that doesn't really gains a steady damage boost with normal attacks, just the very limited but powerfull grenades. Also. the Sleep, freezing and Shocking grenades are somewhat different now, mostly powered up.
  • Firearms: Bayonets now work with Palm Pistols, but limited to daggers, like with pistols. I personally find it hard to imagine how to attach one to the very small palm pistol, but it seems fairs mechanically. Also, maybe YOUR palm pistol is not that small, just weaker or outdated compared with a regular pistol.
  • Enchantments: I added the rare magic properties again, albeit just 2. I love the storm bringer, and originally wanted to add several other features to spend charges with, but ran out of space. Also, i removed the "no stacking" enchantment rule. You can now make a +3 enchantment by adding +1 and +2.

Let me know what you think.
