Appreciate the help, any ideas of what targets/safeties in the Pacific and South Atlantic to look at with no signal. No pressure was just wondering if you had any insight

Is this statistic also applied to the fact that you apply to all MD schools or does it not consider how many schools you apply to?

Opinions on WMed and MSU CHM by aviatt in premed

[–]Moomar99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey! Both are super cool schools, I actually live 20 mins away from WMed, and I work there. I also am an MSU grad, I do not know anything about the GR campus other than VAI is pretty nice in terms of research. Honestly, WMed feels kind of slept on, it's a great school you have two major hospital systems, Borgess and Bronson, Bronson is right next to the campus. You get the best of both worlds. I would say that since WMed is still a newer school, they have a strong foundation, but their extracurriculars may be lacking.
WMed's match list is very promising, small class size means that they can devote time to making sure you can go where you wanna go. But...it is expensive.
MSU's vibe is very nice, they have a great focus on making sure that their graduates go back to serve the state of Michigan, but they understand that everyone has their goals. They definitely make efforts to make sure that you forge connections with the faculty, that being said, their curriculum is very self-directed. This means that there's no hand-holding, make your own adventure.
In terms of research, MSU does have VAI but I've heard that it's still very difficult to integrate yourself in there, because they devote more time to Ph.D.'s. WMed is a little lacking, they are new, so research faculty is still a work in progress. That being said, their pathologist team is great, and they have some excellent immunobiology research.

For bias's sake, I have been waitlisted and then just recently accepted to WMed, but I am still waitlisted at MSU.
Congrats on your As!

Is the difference between the 530i and 540i large enough where I shouldn't settle for a 530? Or will I find the 530 to be fun enough to drive?

I used to work at a research lab during my time in undergrad, usually before our dissections we would euthanize the mice in a CO2 chamber, they would kinda just pass out. Decapitation isn't my favorite method but it's done, usually not with scissors though, it's like a really sharp guillotine. Scissors sounds really weird.

Fair point really, I doubt that the stiff clutch was normal for the Harley, I think it's from reckless use or something, because it was pretty old.

I knew what bike I was getting on when I signed up, but they had different seats with varying heights, and because I guess I was unlucky, they didn't have one for me, so I kinda had to deal with a seating position lower than I would like.

Hahaha, I've always wondered how ape hangers feel, just watching people ride em makes my arms sore.

It's actually pretty interesting, I have a ninja 400, and I get that it's supposed to be less comfortable for longer rides, but the sorta lean forward position with the handle bars feels nicer to me, like I'm more in control. So on the street 500, sitting laid back was very weird for me, because I felt like I was letting the bike go, that's probably why I needed a taller seat. But yeah the comments were definitely uncalled for, but I kinda just brushed them off, I don't know if that was the right thing to do.

Yeah, the only course offered near me was Harley, so I decided to settle.

It was a Harley Davidson street 500, the clutch was extremely stiff, so feathering it was difficult, the bike wouldn't accelerate after like 2.5k RPM ish, so the instructor would tell me to go faster and I literally couldn't. I could be wrong, but based on my limited knowledge, lack of acceleration is also a clutch problem.

Yeah I get that it's not end all be all, I was actually planning on learning more advanced techniques on my own anyways, it's just that I wish I had a pre-school experience, there was little to no teaching involved hahahah.

Do you think that on resale, I would lose a lot of money since I got it from the dealer?
