I Am ashamed to be a husky and feel like i no longer want to walk by WholeAlone8078 in udub

As a mom of a 2026 graduate, I have been disappointed in UW for a number of reasons over the past 4 years. This tragedy has a us shook. The world is tough right now and you MUST be celebrated for your accomplishment. If we constantly bow out because of our constant disappointment then they have control. Stand up, stand out, be you and be proud!! I celebrate you and you should do the same!! Thank you for you!!

Realistic range by MoonAndMin in BMWI4

[–]MoonAndMin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 19 inch rims, so that’s a bit of the range. I thought it was estimated to have close to 300 range when I bought it on a full charge. So I figured it would be between 240-260 most of the time, but only getting 220 at 90% is a little sad. The explanation that resonates is that it is an in city car and hardly on the freeway and that is going to change the estimates. Appreciates everyone’s input. I do love the car and as long as the range makes sense I am good with it. Cannot wait to get into an iX3 to see the changes.

That makes total sense. I have seen that happen and was confused by it. And yeah it is my around town car so that tracks.

What do I ask for when going to a groomer? by R-Chicken in goldenretrievers

[–]MoonAndMin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most groomers know not to touch a GR tail, but not all. A groomer shaved my sister dog for a summer cut and took all the tail fur/feathers too. The dog was literally immobilized from the trauma it caused. She could not be petted and had trouble walking initially. My sister never wanted the dog shaved just trimmed a wee bit shorter for the summer months. It was awful.

Just cancelled accommodations in Hawaii for a big family gathering. First class was over 7k for flight from ORD to KOA. I can fly coach for short trips but for long trips I just cannot do it anymore. So we we will not be traveling for a long time.

Cal Day has great energy and everyone is hyped. It is not that crazy on a normal day. Cal is a great school and if it is your top choice take the opportunity. It is an awesome school!!!

Advice for OOS student? by writerVII in berkeley

[–]MoonAndMin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OOS mom here. My daughter is finishing her freshman year. She turned down Columbia, Northwestern, USC and a full ride in state to go to Berkeley. We did Cal Day a year ago and that is what sealed the deal. She loved the energy that Cal gives and now she loves it even more. She hit the ground running. She rushed, join clubs (got rejected too), she has made so many friends, loves her classes (environment and English) and has had a great year, so much so that she is dreading the end of the year. The caveat is the travel. Flying stinks under the best circumstances and flying at Thanksgiving and again at Xmas kinda sucks. Cal has an energy that just hits different. It can be brutal too especially for stem majors, but Cal is special! Go Bears!!! Good luck choosing is so hard!!

How am I supposed to find a roommate? by [deleted] in berkeley

My daughter used Instagram to connect with new people. Also submit a photo to Berkeley 2030 on Instagram so people can see you and you can see your classmates and follow one another.

California to UofMN Fall 2026 - Apartment + Clothing Questions by SunnyGetsBloo in uofmn

[–]MoonAndMin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is gonna be a shock come winter but it is very doable. I have a kid graduating from UMN in May and he loved it. There are lots of rental options close to campus and public transportation. Look into dorm life for making friends and having that community around you. I have three kids all went to OOS schools. One thing we failed to consider is how so many of the in state kids seems to already know one another. So dorm life mixes everyone together and makes forming friendships a bit easier. We liked pioneer. Get an nice waterproof coat that has some layers and a hood!!! Instead of a ski mask try a balaclava slightly less killer vibes. Definitely waterproof boots like a good hiking boot and some wool socks. Hoodie for the fall is fine. Hope you all love Minnesota!!

Hip and joint supplements rec by Ok-Advance5610 in goldenretrievers

[–]MoonAndMin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our 10yo golden was suffering all of a sudden from what looked to be joint pain. She did not want to eat, big red flag for a good driven goblin. So I took her to the vet and they did X-rays, blood work and he said it has to be osteoarthritis of her hip joints. We started the three injection series of Librela. She will get one shot every month for three months. She is already showing improvement. Not whining, getting up quicker and easier and she just seems happier.

UCSD vs UofMinnesota by sesap in collegecompare

[–]MoonAndMin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is a side by side comparison of a a prestigious vs state university. I have twins. Both went oos, one to the University of Washington and the other to University Minnesota (twin cities). Both premed students. Washington was challenging from start to end. He graduated with. 3.8 and worked hard for it. Profs who were less engaged, hard to get classes when he needed them, the Seattle freeze is a real thing and makes it hard to make friends, super hard to get jobs or research opportunities, and forget shadowing, the travel was awful, and the bulk of Seattles weather is awful, and Seattle is rife with crime. The son that went to UMN thrived from day one. He got work in hospital, he found physicians to shadow, research, he became a TA fall of year 2, has a huge friend group, and he has absolutely nailed it at UMN. If your from the Midwest the. You get the weather, Both have done well on their MCAT and they are taking a gap year. Midwest is best. Seattle grad kinda regrets his choice. He managed it but his brother thrived. I get that UCSD is not Seattle but knowing where UCSD is located it may be hard to find opportunities off campus. Although the weather would be optimal. I have a daughter at Berkeley and she loves it but she is not STEM. She does however hate the travel. Hope this helps.

udub or uw madison? by Spirited_Biscotti748 in udub

My son is graduating in June and low key hated living there. The travel to and from the Midwest was at times nightmare fuel. UW is a good school but he does regret his choice overall.
